friday love {instagram}

It’s Friday {Thank God! After our first week back at school, we are ready for a couple down days.}  I’m linking up with Jeannett at Life Rearranged to share cell phone pics from the week. Join us!

I haven’t shared my cell phone pics for a couple weeks, so there are a quite a few.

I visited slo donut company {slo do co to the locals} a couple weeks ago with friends and all our kiddos. It was a hit–love it!

Matthias was gifted a journal and awesome colored pencils from our friend Jimmy. When we got on the plane to Omaha, he immediately got to work.

David loved the Omaha zoo. We all did! Plus some good daddy snuggles are always welcome.

I’ve been practicing capturing bokeh with my cell phone. I hold my hand in front of the camera and focus there–and then move my hand right before I snap the pic. It takes some practice–but the results are so fun.

We visited the Stategic Air Command Museum in Omaha. My favorite part? The snickers ice cream bar from the snack bar. But the planes were super cool too!

A gorgeous sunset in Omaha.

Aunties came to visit for New Year’s weekend and David was quite content to snuggle up as soon as possible.

We had dinner at the Apple Farm and it was delicious and so Christmas-y {or New Years-y}

We introduced our friend Ingrid to bubble gum alley in downtown San Luis Obispo. So disgusting, yet so intriguing.

I make breakfast most mornings–pancakes, waffles, eggs or cinnamon rolls. But sometimes we just have good old fashion cold cereal. And it’s so yum.

I used these paint brushes to create birthday party invites for Matthias’ birthday. More on that soon!

If you’re on instagram, you’ve probably seen {or you’re participating in} the January photo a day challenge. For day one the challenge was to take a pic of what you had for breakfast. We had chocolate chip pancakes. Love.

Day two of the challenge–something you adore. This is my grandmother’s locket, inside is a photo of my grandfather {he died before I was born}. So special.

The sunsets lately have been spectacular. This photo doesn’t even do it justice.  The sky was all shades of pink and coral.

Yesterday’s photo challenge was to take a pic of something you wore. And this was my outfit.

Phew! That’s the update from my cell phone. This weekend involves some downtime and hopefully getting the upstairs cleaned and organized. Sunday we are heading to LA for a doctor visit for David at UCLA.

What are your weekend plans?

    Ok now I’m going to run around the house trying to perfect the art of capturing bokeh with my cell phone! Thanks for including the super brief tutorial!

    Would you mind sharing the brand and shade of your lipstick? I need a New Year pick-me-up. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hi KC! Right now i am loving Nars lipliner in Salsa and lipstick in Fast Ride. I found them at Sephora. xoxo

  3. Visiting from Life Rearranged. You’ve taken some great shots. Very sweet pics of your boys, and I could eat one of those donuts right now ๐Ÿ™‚ Your grandmother’s locket is breathtaking. And thanks for the info on bokeh with an iPhone. Good to know!

    PS> i am in love with your hair ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Those donuts slay me. I recently learned of donut pans for making them in the oven. What?! I must get one, then make donuts with frosting and cereal on top, just like those. I will be a hit at home and at work!

    This weekend I am watching “The Sound of Music” for the first time in my thirty-something years of life. Can you believe it? And I’m going to my Grammy’s house tomorrow to dust and clean for her and listen to her stories. Tomorrow night we are going to our good family friends’ for dinner. It really will be a great weekend, as long as my kids don’t get sick, which seems to be the m.o. around here the last few months…

    Hoping David’s appointment is perfect!

  6. You are adorable, my sister turned me on to your blog.. I really want to make your candles for Valentines.. but I go into Michaels and am VERY overwhelmed! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I always love looking at your blog. Just wanted to mention that I make chocolate chip pancakes for my kiddos on the weekends they are with me – and I have found using the mini chocolate chips works really well too! Yummy. Enjoy your weekend.

  8. Celebrating Christmas number 2!!! January 7th (which is actually Dec. 25 on the Gregorian calendar). Then Christmas is finally done for another year. I love it but am ready to move on to Valentine’s Day!
