in the morning we took the kids to a park so they could play and we could talk.  the weather was perfect and the kids played happily.  i was so grateful to get to catch up with my sis.  sometimes we feel really pulled by the kids and it’s hard to get a complete sentence out.  by friday was mellow and the kids cooperated.

after lunch we took them to the santa barbara zoo.  there weren’t many people and the animals were very friendly.  just my speed.

david really enjoyed watching the penguins playing.  they are pretty darn cute! david would happily jump into play with them–except he doesn’t swim.  sorry, david!

  1. Sounds like it was a wonderful day. I love those days when I can actually converse with someone of adult brain while the kids actually play & interact well.

We had a good weekend consisting of church, watching the new Tinkerbell movie with my two girls, going shopping for Christmas jammies, and a family fall photo shoot in the gorgeous leaves at the park.

  2. As always, your pictures are just beautiful and make me smile! There is nothing in the world like sisters–and cousins. My kids love their cousins so much and thankfully we all live near each other. We had a great weekend filled with visiting family, trick-or-treating, ordering pizza from our very favorite pizza place, carving pumpkins and eating LOTS of candy!

  3. How I love all the pictures you post Lisa:)
We had a good weekend, treak or treating on Saturday night and just being Home on Sunday. A long walk on the beach and a fire in the fireplace topped off our Sunday. Love days at home

  4. my kids and hubs had the nasty flu, not sure if it was the swine flu but nonetheless it was a tough weekend. only 2 out of the 4 got to go trick or treating. but we are all on the mend and thank the lord i didn’t get it!

  5. I love pictures of you and all your sisters whenever you put them up. I have one sister who lives far away and we tend to argue. My husband is an only child. We have so few relatives. Seeing you and your sisters makes me a bit envious. But it’s easy to fit our family names on your beautiful jewelry. We got our holiday gifts for grandma and grandpa from you a couple days ago. They look terrific. Thanks.
We’ve recently moved to a new state and had a great Halloween having a pot luck dinner with new friends before we took the kids out trick-or-treating. It’s nice to create what I hope are new traditions.

  6. Lovely photos, the kids look adorable and I absolutely love the elephant. What magnificent creatures they are. My weekend was hectic & fun with lots going on. With five kids its always busy, and often crazy. I’m enjoying reading your blog, thanks xo (Beck from Australia)

  7. You sure did a great job with that “extra” day given you. Honestly, my weekend started out great and the I ended up crying for a day and a half. I guess it all evens out that way 🙂

It is comforting to hear that you and your sis feel pulled by the kids (thought it may be jst me) but I am soo glad to hear that you make it work and do get together 🙂 Your pictures are soo wonderful. The SB Zoo is near perfect.

  8. Very pretty! Especially sunshine! Down here starting to get colder-ready for another long winter. Less sun. LOVE your inspiring photos! Your sister and you looks ALOT alike!! Beautiful kids! I stayed with my girls whole weekend..its nice to keep them from school on weekends. =)

  9. Looks like my perfect weekend too, Lisa. I love that zoo and I really love a chance to catch up with a friend (no sis for me) while the kids play happily 🙂 We had a nice lazy day Saturday before our neighborhood went crazy with trick or treating. Sunday was the Avila barn (nice and empty!) and some errands… but just soaking in the sweetness and cutness of my girlies.

  10. Love your pictures! Haven’t been to a zoo in years….need to go! Weekend here was a birthday celebration 40 again !! and lots of chores! No Halloween in Germany …hate that!

  11. My weekend included someone you may remember. She ordered a necklace from you with “heartsong” on the little bird charm necklace. Yes, I get to see her again today before she goes home. A very dear friend she is. We walked and ran and hiked FOREVER yesterday. I think I’m a little sore today.

  12. What a fun day, I know what you mean about getting a word in edgewise with the kids. Glad you had such a fun day. I wanted to let you know that my daughter and I spent quite some time making a huge bouquet of your paper flowers, and they turned out great. Thanks for posting the tutorial.
