in a meaning of welcome {my porch + entryway}

decorating, paper & cloth By January 30, 2014 14 Comments

Today I’m sharing our front porch and entryway. After the holidays, it felt so sad and boring–I wanted to freshen it up and make it fun again!

I found this adorable wreath at Target {I love how simple it is} and added an xoxo banner from our shop.

I planted various succulents because I’m terrible about watering–which makes these a perfect plant for me!

I love succulents grouped together. So much texture.

To plant the succulents, I put rocks in the bottom of each pot, then special sandy potting soil and then the plants themselves. I only water them every week or so!

Come on in! The first thing you’ll see is the large buffet I found on craiglist and painted black.

On top I stacked vintage books and an old file with wooden drawers.

The L-O-V-E posters are from the shop! Love! Each poster is 8×10–get all four for only $18.99!

Happy bunting made from scrap fabric and a driftwood heart I found on etsy complete the vignette.

I used washi tape to put the posters on the wall–can’t get any easier than that!

The branches on either side of the door are strung with little white lights that look so magical at night. We keep them up year round!

I like to keep our entryway fresh and welcoming. This area of the house tends to stay fairly tidy which makes having friends over easier. Do you find yourself constantly changing your decor or do you keep it the same for a while?

jewelry, paper & cloth By January 12, 2014 3 Comments

Did you know that we have a wholesale program? We introduced it over a year ago and it’s been building month after month.

We work with some FABULOUS shops like Dayspring, Earth Angels Studios and BHLDN. We have some beautiful boutiques as well. It’s humbling to walk into some of my favorite shops and see my jewelry. Very surreal!

We are currently in Atlanta at the home and gift show. If you are there come see us! We will be here through tomorrow, Monday at booth 1804, building 3, floor 2. We’d love to say hi and show you some of our new things.

Are you interested in carrying my wholesale line? If you are a shop owner or a rep, head over to my site and click the ‘wholesale’ tab in the top right corner to see all the pretty things. If you don’t have a resale license, please tell your shop-owning friends about our wholesale line. Hugs to you!

our family room {and a giveaway!}

decorating, giveaway, paper & cloth By October 24, 2013 156 Comments

Oh friends! I have a fun giveaway today!

I think that paint and area rugs are the most affordable ways to make a BIG impact on a room. I’ve got to tell you, I can’t believe how bright and happy this little rug makes our family room.

Take a look…

The colors are fun, but not too crazy. They blend well with my brown sofas, afghans and painted coffee table.

Aren’t these lamps fun? A Target find.

I really really really want to paint our built in shelves white. I feel confident it will happen one of these days! The vintage crate was an etsy find–and it’s from Steve’s family’s vineyard in the Fresno area. So cool.

It’s photographs that personalize the space. This picture of baby David, just a few weeks old, completely melts my heart.

Vintage paintings and books add texture to the room.

This rug is soft–we all love the way it feels.

We’ve got a fruit wall–I’m thinking this will change soon as winter comes. The watercolor cards are painted by my talented twin sis.

In the hallway I’ve got a collage with our new paper collection. This poster and this card are awesome!

This moment is wonderful and wild. It’s imperfect and beautiful. And I want to be present in it!

Vintage crates hold legos and star wars figures.

Wanna win a rug? Mohawk is giving one away! The Ziggidy Rug pictured is carried by Target. Oh and check this one out–isn’t it adorable?

welcome to our living room

blog friends, decorating, paper & cloth By October 22, 2013 7 Comments

Hey there! I spent a lot of time over the weekend cleaning and purging and getting the house to a better place. I feel like I swept cobwebs out of my mind–and I’ve freed up space to dream and think and be more present. Do you know what I mean?

Today I’m sharing pictures of our living room. When you enter the front door and turn right, you are in our living room. It’s an open space with a cozy couch and lots of natural light. It’s one of my favorite rooms in our home. The boys like to hang out in here and play–but it never gets as messy as the family room. We eat dinner in here whenever we have company, which is at least once a week with our community group from church.

That light-up ampersand adds a lot of FUN and personality to the room. It’s by Junk Art Gypsyz and it’s well made and priced right. It’s a conversation piece too. I love it.

The rug is from Ikea and the aqua chair is a thrift store find that I recovered. You can see the before/after here.

Isn’t this sign too fun?! Check out the Junk Art Gypsyz ¬†shop here.

This typewriter doesn’t actually work, so I printed a little love note on the printer and put it in there.

These owl bookends were a thrift find. To paint or not to paint, I’m still asking that question!

The ‘be brave’ poster is the best selling item from our paper & cloth collection. You can see the whole collection here.

And shifting to the other side of the couch, I’ve hung this gorgeous canvas by Lori Danelle. She is amazing paper-cutting artist. So talented!

Here’s a closer look at the canvas. Lori shares her creative process on her blog. It’s so inspiring! I hope you’ll take a minute to hop over and check it out.

The words on the canvas are taken from a blog post I wrote for David. It’s from the heart and the way Lori put it together makes my heart happy. I am so thankful for this canvas and the meaning it holds.

The granny squares afghan is a thrift find that we use all the time. So cozy and colorful.

And that’s our living room! Thanks for taking a moment to take in the space with me.

What’s a favorite room in your home?

DIY chalkboard frames

decorating, DIY, paper & cloth By October 18, 2013 2 Comments

So you saw yesterday’s post and our big announcement, right? Can I tell you–your response knocked my socks off. Any time I launch a new product, especially a new collection, it’s vulnerable and scary. But I fell like you celebrate with me and speak kind words. I am grateful!

I wanted to share a bit more about our entryway and how I did the chalkboard frames.

These frames were asking for a coat of paint and since I didn’t have regular black paint, I decided to use chalkboard paint, because why not?! But by the end things got a little more creative and I ended up loving the results.

If I see a frame at a thrift store with good detail, I usually pick it up. You never know when you’re going to need a good frame, right?

I already had this paint from previous projects. I picked it up at Home Depot.

David was a great helper. Well, I take that back, David was great company. He was smiley and encouraging. But he never picked up a paintbrush!

Rascal.

I love that kiddo!

It took a couple coats to get the frames covered, but it was a warm day so the paint dried quickly. I waited about an hour in between coats.

I let the paint dry overnight and then I rubbed white chalk along the frames and used my finger to make it look subtle and get it into the grooves. I love the way it brings out the details of the frames. Chalkboard paint with chalk is awesome–even if it’s not a writing surface. it gives so much more texture than just flat black paint.

And here’s another shot of our entryway complete with some posters from our new paper & cloth collection. Today is the last day to get a free fantastic tote with any purchase of at least $25. Awesome!!

Are you ready to break out the chalkboard paint and chalk and give some old frames texture?

a big, huge and very exciting announcement!

decorating, paper & cloth By October 17, 2013 5 Comments

Oh my! Have I ever told you how I hate keeping secrets? Especially when it’s relates to creative things! We’ve been working on a paper and cloth collection for months now and of course I’ve been dying to tell you. And today I finally can! Woohoo!!

You already know that I love metalworking. When an idea begins to take shape and eventually ends up as a piece of jewelry around someone’s neck? Well that’s magical! But I love other forms of creativity as well, thrifting, decorating, wrapping gifts and note writing. These things make my heart happy.

Today I’m thrilled to share our new paper & cloth collection with you. We’ve collaborated with a few local artists to bring you exclusive designs. All of the pieces are hand-lettered and illustrated and they are full of inspiration and creativity! Over the next weeks I’ll be showing you how I’m using the pieces in my daily life–today I’m sharing our entryway. I’ve got it all ready for fall and it’s so welcoming!

Our porch is full of orange pumpkins and white twinkle lights. Every time we come home I smile. I think we all need more twinkle lights in our lives, don’t you?

The door open to our entryway, which holds an old buffet that I found on craigslist and painted black.

I have various wreaths that I hang on our door for different seasons.

Here’s a look at two of the prints from the new paper & cloth collection. I love the simplicity and heart behind these pieces! And the messages are good reminder that YOU are loved and precious.

I used command strips to adhere the posters to the wall inside chalkboard frames.

A stack of old books, a few small pumpkins some paper bats complete the look for fall.

Help us celebrate the launch of our new paper & cloth collection! Today we are giving away a FREE fantastic day bag with every purchase of $25 or more. How awesome is that! It’s time to hang some posters, write some letters and get excited about paper and cloth!

Click here to shop the new paper & cloth collection!

And tell me, which pieces are your favorite?
