dreaming of spring {and summer}

I don’t know about you–but I am totally gearing up for spring. I’m longing for warmer weather and there have been a few days here and there that have been absolutely lovely. This week’s post is all about taking a piece and making it work for different seasons. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I took a pencil skirt and styled it three different ways–to take it from winter to spring and into summer. {Let’s hear it for warmer weather!!} My skirt is from Target and it’s no longer available–but this pencil skirt is gorgeous! I love wearing pencil skirts–I sized up one size so that it wasn’t too snug. I wanted it fitted, but not tight.

This first outfit was super warm. The tights paired with the wool pullover are perfect for a chilly winter day!

Surprise! A pop of cranberry once the jacket is removed.

Have you snagged a charm for February? Just two days left and they’ll be gone forever!

Details for look 1: Skirt, Target {similar}. Cranberry top, Target. Wool sweater, Banana Republic. Tights, Target. Boots, 7 for All Mankind. Green Jacket, Tulle. Charm Bracelet, My Shop.

Matthias likes this look the best. It cracks me up that my 9 year old has opinions about what I wear. And he definitely has opinions about what he wears! I love easy layers. This sweater is warm, but once the morning coolness of spring has worn off, I can take off the sweater and still look put together.

Details for look 2: Skirt, Target {similar}. Denim top, Chicos. Blue heels, TJ Maxx. Golden seed necklace, My Shop. It’s part of our new fair trade collection, hope{full}.

This last look made my heart happy. This top is feminine and flowy. The heels are neutral and make my legs look longer. I’d wear this for an evening out or church. And how sweet is this necklace? It’s on sale today. This look makes me long for summer!

Details for look 3: Skirt, Target {similar}. Top, local boutique. Heels, Payless. Pretty like a bow necklace, My shop. On sale today only!!

What’s your favorite season? Do you prefer warm, cozy layers or are you a tank top and flip flops lover?

  1. I went to your site looking for the charm bracelet and I don’t see it anywhere. Could you post a link, please?

  2. I am hoping for warmer weather too. We are relocating to North Carolina in less than 30 days. SO excited to leave COLD North Dakota behind.
I love those blue shoes!!!! Everything you wear is always adorable!

  3. great stylings! I love them all. Makes me wish I would have picked up that skirt when I had the chance. My daughter has it in green and pink!

  4. Cozy layers WITH flip flops! 🙂 I’ve been loving layering with comfy vests and my favorite infinity scarf. But the luxury of being a So Cal girl is being able to wear sandals almost all year round.

Your summer look here is perfect! Hope it gets warm enough up in Slo soon that when the time changes you can head out under the sun on an early evening date with your man wearing that hot number! 🙂

  5. All of these looks are great! I do agree with Mathias, the middle one is just perfection. But Im always biased of a chambray shirt. I did a similar thing on my blog today, styled one dress for winter and spring. Oh and you look gorgeous in that skirt btw!

  6. Beautiful outfits! I’m curious, are you wearing one or two of the golden seed necklaces in your second look? I love the way it fits with your outfit and was wondering what I would need to replicate it! 🙂

  7. Living in the northeast we seem to wear layers forever. We really look forward to warm weather and I love flip flops. My husband would wear shorts and tees all year if he could. Love all your looks!!!

  8. I bought the same exact skirt and absolutely love it too! I grabbed it at Target when it was only $3.98 on clearance!!! After loving the way it fit, I went back and bought a purple one too!!
