Kimono two ways

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By June 11, 2014 6 Comments

Hello friends! It’s summer and I want to be comfortable and flowy and I think I’ve found the solution! It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

How fun is this kimono? It’s a scarf style and drapes perfectly over my shoulders. It goes from park play to date night to beach cover up. I am so happy!

It adds such a FUN splash of color and I have gotten so many compliments on it!

These are the most amazing boyfriend jeans I have ever had. They are my very favorites–I highly recommend!
Order your regular size and you won’t regret it!

Yellow earrings from my hope{full} fair trade collection are perfect for summer.

This bracelet from the fair trade collection is GORGEOUS. It’s made from tagua seed and it feels good on!

These sandals are new and so comfy! I wear heels almost all of the time–but that doesn’t work at the park or the zoo. Happy, easy sandals make for happy feet. And such a neutral color–love that.

This kimono is perfect for date night, too!

I love the way the kimono drapes over a dress. I added heels to dress up the outfit a bit more.

The heels are so comfortable!

A clutch is perfect for an evening out because I don’t need to bring diapers, etc. This leather one was found at an estate sale.

Date nights are the BEST! We try to get in at least 2-3 a month and it’s been so good for us. We have fun, we talk and talk. We bond.

Outfit one details: Kimono, Anthropologie. The best boyfriend jeans EVER {order your regular size}, Zappos. Black tee {I’m wearing a large}, Target. Strappy sandals, Anthropolgie. Yellow diamond earrings, fair trade, my shop. Grey bracelet, fair trade, my shop.

Outfit two details: Kimono, Anthropologie. Black dress, thrifted. Chunky heeled sandals, on sale! Dillards. Clutch, thrifted. Yellow diamond earrings, fair trade, my shop. Grey bracelet, fair trade, my shop.

Is this kimono something you would wear? I’d love to hear!

New necklace–state of my heart!

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By May 21, 2014 6 Comments

Today’s outfit is all about comfort…well not all about comfort, because I wore heels. If it was all about comfort, I would be wearing slippers! But mostly about comfort. These pants are basically pajamas.  I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I ended uptown in LA with David. He’s been having so much abdominal pain that we were able to make a last minute appointment with his GI at UCLA and problem solve. It’s a long drive but we are fine tuning his meds and I feel confident there are no larger problems {other that gas, cramping} that are affecting him. Anyhoo I had my comfy outfit on at UCLA.

And I had my big ‘ol bag and I filled it up with protein bars, bottled water, and magazines. And of course, I  read none of the magazines. Ha!

Have you seen the new ‘state of my heart’ necklace? It’s SO FUN! We also have a keychain and bracelet. Too fun! Check out the presale here.

Today I’m driving home and catching up on emails. David seems to be feeling better–and we’re hoping we can get him into a better place! It just breaks my heart to see him in pain. We’ll be adjusting his meds slightly and trying some herbal remedies like camomile tea when his tummy hurts.

Outfit details: Pants, Target. Black heels, Target. Gray tank, Gap. Denim jacket, Stitch Fix. State of My Heart necklace, My shop. Sterling cuff, my shop.

Which state{s} hold a special place in your heart?

same dress, four ways

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By April 23, 2014 6 Comments

Hello to YOU! A couple weeks ago I found this dress at Anthropologie and fell in love with it. At half off, it was a great price. But when I got it home, the zipper was broken. Usually I would take the dress back, but I love this dress so much I decided to take it to a local tailor and get the zipper repaired. $12 and a new zipper and I’m ready to go!

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I styled the dress four different ways. The more versatile a piece is, the more use it gets, right? And this dress feels good on, I want to wear it!

The first look is my go to–just add a denim jacket and neutral booties–done!

For the second look, I layered on a bright cardigan with peacock feathers and bright blue heels. Fun!

The third look is really sweet. I wore a crinoline under the dress and a cream sweater over. Neutral heels keep it simple.

For the last look, I layered a structured top over the dress–to make it look like a skirt and pulled on these adorable mary janes. The shoes steal the show!

Outfit details: Dress, Anthropologie. Denim jacket, Gap. Neutral booties, Target. Peacock cardigan, Anthropologie. Blue heels, H&M. Petticoat, Ruby Rose. Cream cardi, Urban Outfitters. Black structured top, Target. Red Mary janes, Ambiance {local boutique}. Classic monogram necklace, My shop.

Which look to do you like best?

blazing a trail

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By April 9, 2014 9 Comments

I’ve picked up a couple blazers lately–but for some reason I don’t wear them. Maybe they feel too professional? So this week I wore both–I was determined to use these cute blazers and keep them fun and not stuffy! All the basics were the same–my have jeans and a basic tee. Easy!

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

This floral blazer was a Target clearance find. It was $10–and it’s linen which is super fun for spring. Plus I love mixing beige and black–those are the easiest colors for me to work with, so it was a no brainer!

David kept jumping into the picture–and this one was too cute not to share. He wanted to give me kisses–and right after this picture he got me on the nose. Such a sweetheart. He melts me.

Did you see that the buckle cuffs are in stock? I LOVE them! Gorgeous.

And the memory keeper necklace is a have, too! So pretty and the mixed metals look awesome.

This second blazer was a thrift store find. It was $10–which is a bit more than I usually pay at the thrift store. But I loved the fit and it’s silk, so I splurged.

Outfit details: Floral blazer, Target. Black blazer, thrifted. Jeans, Big star via Zappos {I love these jeans–order your regular size!} Booties sandals, Target. Bag, Target. Tee, Target {I size up with these tees so they’re more drapey}. Buckle cuff, My shop. Memory keeper necklace, My shop.

Blazers are a great way to layer. I find myself using cardigans more often, but I want to put my blazers in the mix! Do you wear blazers?

wearing sequins during the day and strong love bracelet

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By April 2, 2014 12 Comments

I kind of love sparkly things–and I have some sequined pieces hanging in my closet. While they’re great for date night, I want to wear them more often than that! A huge plus is David LOVES sequins. He loves the texture and the sparkle–so it’s fun to wear around him.

I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I got this top at Target right before our Lisa Leonard Designs Christmas party. I wore it with black skinny jeans and heels. For a typical day though, I just paired it with broken in jeans and leopard print heels.

The belt and the bag keep it casual.

It’s definitely got SPARKLE! When the sun hits this top it’s like a disco ball.

And the memory keeper necklace is FAVE! It’s back in stock!

I also found this skirt at Target. It was on clearance for $19–so I figured, heck! why not?!

I love the longer length and the gray tones. I paired it with my favorite jean jacket and a black tee. Easy!

The heels and bag are just basics. Keep it simple and the sequins do their thing!

And this bracelet? Be still my heart! It’s called ‘strong love’ and it’s 2 hearts, bolted together. It represents an unbreakable love–and it’s been on my wrist every day practically. You can find it here.

Outfit 1 details: Sequined top, Target. Jeans, Fat Face {British brand}. Belt, thrifted. Leopard print heels, {similar} Target. Bag, Target. Memory Keeper Necklace, My Shop.
Outfit 2 details: Sequined skirt, Target. Black tee, Target. Denim jacket, Gap. Bag, Target. Bracelet, NEW in my shop.

So where do you stand on sequins? Would you wear them during the day or only for special occasions?

wearing army green

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By March 26, 2014 5 Comments

Lately I can’t get enough of military greens and camo. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

The camo button up is from Forever 21. It’s thick–almost like a light jacket. It’s kind of tomboy and I love pairing it with feminine shoes–like these bootie sandals.

That’s pretty much me–glued to my phone. I’m trying to put it away and be more present.

These pants {above} are from free people and they’re ridiculously comfortable. Plus, I love the patches–something different!

Just add basics, a gray tee and denim jacket and I’m good to go.

The wildflowers necklace is a favorite lately!

And this army green button down from anthro is about as easy as it gets!

Outfit 1 details: Camo top, Forever 21. Black v-neck, Target. Coated jeans, Banana Republic. Bootie sandals, Target. Gray bag, Target.
Outfit 2: Patched knee pants, Free People. Gray tee, Target. Denim jacket, Gap. Leather bag, brought bag from Thailand. Wildflowers necklace, My shop.
Outfit 3: Army green top, Anthropologie. Boyfriend jeans, Big Star. Bag, Target.

Phew! We are in NY and it’s coooold!! It’s our last full day here and we plan to see the freedom tower and The Lion King. Then tomorrow we head home. I’ve got lots of pics to share from our adventures–so check back tomorrow!

Do you have any army green in your closet?

vintage boho

what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By March 19, 2014 18 Comments

I found this dress at the thrift store last week and praaaayed the whole way to the dressing room that it would fit. And it did! I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration!

The dress is super funky with a lot of different colors and hand-embroidery. It’s the kind of thing you either love or hate.

I wore it with flip flops for an afternoon at the beach.

Then for an evening out I wore sandals and a denim jacket.

I think I like it layered best. The sleeves are full and I think a more fitted sleeve is flattering.

Outfit details: Dress, thrifted. Flip flops, local boutique. Bootie sandals, Target. Denim jacket, Gap. Leather bag, brought bag from Thailand. Wildflowers necklace, my shop.

And that’s my crazy thrifted dress. Yay! Is this dress something you would wear or way too crazy?
