  1. this is probably super random, but I’m fascinated w/crows! Loving your pictures in this post. Searching constantly for art stamps and/or punches of crows. A bit of a Halloween freak, I am, haha.

    Love the pics. LOVE THEM!!!

  2. you have to check out Karen Russell’s online photography class!!! It’s amazing and packed FULL of information!

  3. I want to learn Chinese – not gonna happen, but I want to learn it anyway lol

By the way – 1) Your blog is GORGEOUS, and 2) I entered the giveaway at Jenny Matlock’s blog

  4. My son plays football and my daughter takes piano lessons. I would love to take a photography class. I love taking pictures, but would love to learn more about angles and lighting and all. I think you do a great job with taking pictures. I just love the pictures that you post on your blog. Great work!

  5. Danielle was into sports – we were just watching some girls playing softball the other day and saying how much we missed it, even all the traveling. Dan coached for a couple of seasons and loved it. She also played other sports. Took after her mom. And Liz did some gymnastics for awhile and loved it till she started hurting herself. She also tried flute, till they changed the class to 7am. I didn’t even get up that early.

I was just looking through an adult school catalog and saw a class on “Getting to know your digital camera.” I could learn more about my camera, too. And then there was a photoshop class I would like to do, too, because I don’t know how to edit my pics…I just crop or lighten/darken if needed. Would like to learn how to make my pictures better.

  6. I love art of all kinds, so am usually signed up for a class of some sort. Next semester it’s printmaking – which is just the most fun ever. My daughter takes after me, loves the artsy and crafty stuff, but also thoroughly enjoys horseback riding. My son is another kettle of fish altogether, but he seems to have finally discovered rock climbing, and I am happy for him. There are so very many things i’d love to learn – more painting, some photography, another language, snowshoeing, maybe cross country skiing, snorkelling… the list is pretty much endless. Good thing it all doesn’t have to be done today…………………….

  7. I want to learn more about my camera so I can take spectacular photos.

My two older kids both play hockey, and my eldest plays softball and piano as well. My son will be starting t-ball in May. My twins aren’t old enough for the local programs that we have offered here in our tiny town.

Can’t wait for the necklace I ordered from you last week to arrive!!!

  8. I did my British sign language level one in 2008 I need to get on with level two as my daughter is deaf & this is her main form of communication, I would also love to do jewellery making & Italian at some point, as for classes for my they both have swimming lessons & my daughter does Gymnastics.

  10. I really love your website. I know what you mean about photography….it always feels to me like there is STILL so much to learn. But that’s why I love taking pictures. Your images are lovely. You have a beautiful eye for composition and for expressing the true essence or feeling of your subject. Keep it up.

  11. the camera classes I take are all at our local camera shop….there are group classes for just about everything, but I love the one on one classes…..hands on classes that teach me so much while not be distracted by other people in the room with me….

my next one…..studio lighting….YIIKES….that will tough for me since I’m a natural light kind of gal….

  12. I would also like to learn more about photography, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Have you seen this? http://thebloomproject.squarespace.com/
I don’t really know anything about it, but it looks really interesting. I think I need to upgrade to a real camera first, though. Anyway, enough rambling about me. You have a truly lovely blog and family. I also found you through Jenny Matlock’s post and am entering. I also added your shop to my jewelry page (which is merely a collection of links I love to browse and daydream over).

  13. I want to learn to knit. And to bake without a recipe. And to be organized. And patience…but I don’t think they teach classes on that! 🙂

Love your blog…came here from jenny’s blog, am entering her contest. Now I’m off to look at your amazing jewelry!

  14. Just came from Jenny Matlocks post where she’s doing a giveaway for one of your necklaces. I sure want to win! But if I don’t, I know where to get another one! Your photography is awesome. I’ll have to come visit again…
Now to your web site to see the others..
    Have a great weekend..

  15. Love your blog and your photography. I love to take photos and I’m getting better all the time. I am entering a giveaway over at Jenny Matlock’s that you are sponsoring.

  16. I love your jewelry and I’m so envious that Jenny is getting to do a giveaway…but, I’m certainly entering! I guess I’m supposed to come over here and tell you that! What I’d rather tell you is that I have really enjoyed seeing all the pieces of yours around blogland. The illuminate necklace really caught my attention when I first saw it, it really is unique and very special.

  17. Hi Lisa. Your blog is beautiful. Stopping by from Jenny’s site with your fantastic giveaway, you’re too kind! What beautiful necklaces. I’m SO jealous. Is the bottom right photo of where you live? What state is that in? I browsed through & saw some of your other photos. WHAT BEAUTY! I would give my right leg (okay, maybe not) to live there! It’s like my dream. Anyway, love the site. Glad to have found you through Jenny Matlock! =) Blessings!!

  18. I had Home Economics in 8th grade. We learned all kinds of stuff…needle point; crocheting and knitting….I failed miserable at knitting. I talked my best friends mom into making my ‘booties’ that we were required to make. I just didn’t have the coordination! I am visiting your blog today on behalf of the giveaway at Jenny Matlock’s blog….but I will visit again. 🙂

  19. My son is in 4th grade; he is a Cub Scout (and therefore does all SORTS of new things!) and was a member of his school’s first ever wrestling team this year. He loves to draw (and I made “Adam’s Book of Monsters”, as well as books 2 and 3 of the same title, from all of his drawings that looked VERY similar to the one on your page. He LOVED having his very own books to look at). He also adores LEGOS and Pokemon. As for me, if I’m not volunteering at his school, scouts, or church, I’m taking pictures. Or uploading. Or downloading. OR editing. :<)
I came here from Jenny Matlock’s blog and am entering her giveway for your Word of the Day necklace. I think my word might have to be “capture”…..

  20. I have just found your lovely blog via Jenny Matlock and I am so glad I did. I have only just discovered the joys of photography and I would so love to learn how to take beautiful pictures like yours!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  21. My daughter just began her journey into photography last summer. She advertised for free photo sessions on Craigs List so she could get practice, experience, and build a portfolio. Several months and lots of sessions later, she’s done hundreds of photos and has nine weddings booked. She loves it! I think you should go with your heart and go for it! I would like to learn graphics arts design.

I also entered Jenny Matlock’s contest. That’s how I found your blog.

    Liz (aka Ninny)

  22. I’d love to learn photography as well… currently I’m just a self-taught ammateur.

That and I’d really enjoy learning to fence. 😀

  23. We have two hockey playing boys..one boy plays drums and does scouts and the other is a computer nerd ( said with love as dh is a computer nerd too ) Lady Bug is only 2 but she loves to dance, sing and paint..

I would also love to learn more how to use my camera, I got the Nikon D-60 two years ago and I still don’t know how to use the action setting and too many others. I also want to learn to knit, crochet and quilt….and cake decorating, I have dabbled myself but would love to take a class or two

  24. What an amazing blog you have – and your jewellery is stunning. I am going to be a follower from now on – I am off to catch up on your older posts.

    This is just pure joy!

  25. hello! i am so happy to have found your blog. i adore you son’s drawing. it’s so animated and full of life. i am going to take a felting class this spring. i found these fabulous felt necklaces (http://studiodgm.com) in an old fiber arts magazine and am simply inspired. it should be a fine addition to my artwork. best wishes to you! xoxo, juliette

  26. i LOVE your pictures, but it is always fun to learn more about your camera…that is on my list. also, i would love to learn how to knit.

the kiddos…they are in a music class right now, have taken an art class, will be in dance too!

  27. My daughter just finished up an art session and she absolutely loved it! We will probably sign up agian this summer. For now we have Girl Scouts, Ballet, and Softball!

  28. I love your pictures! I check my blog every day just so I can see what you have posted. I would love to take a photography class to learn more about my camera also. I am graduating in May and think I may find one to take after that!

  29. I am looking into piano lessons and art classes here too. I don’t think kids do enough of those in school in my area. Of course, i don’t have a piano, but we’ll see! A sport would be fun too, but I haven’t had much luck on that yet.

I have taken community classes at nights at the high school for photography (desparately need to retake that one since intro to digital!) and sewing. I learned to knit from a friend, but decided I like sewing better. Do they offer those in your area? That is the cheapest way to do it here. And the groups are more intimate too. 🙂

  30. I’d love to learn to play the flute and would also dearly love to learn more about botany and especially botanical art. I can pencil sketch botanical images but would dearly love to take classes.

  31. My 15 year old son has begun boxing and loves it. Of course, as his mom, I’m a bit worried but I want him to enjoy his teen years so I’m going with it. I also love photography and am always looking to improve my skills. Love your blog, so inspiring.

  32. I look forward to getting my little guys into swim classes too! The summers seem to fly by so quickly in Michigan. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures!

  33. i would love to take a photography class too! i took cake decorating classes last year and it was so, so nice to have some “alone time for mommy.” i have my little guy in swim lessons year round – he loves it and is a little fish. he turns for next month – soccer here we come – he needs to burn more energy 🙂

  34. mmmmmm I would love to learn more about photography…but first I need a camera! ha. soon. very soon.

I’d also love to improve my cooking skills.
For now, I have tiny littles. We participate at story hour at our library. Oh, and my oldest little is in Awana. Maybe this summer we’ll be looking at soccer. Depending on what she wants. There’s not a lot to offer in this tiny town of ours. So we make our own fun.

  35. I think I’d like to learn more about photography and sewing. The only thing I’ve really ever sewed is countless pairs of ribbons on countless pairs of pointe shoes and that’s not exactly a gift you can give to your dad on father’s day, you know?

  36. I’m with you on photography and knitting classes. I took an intro photo course last summer – it helped – now I need more. Probably because being in a class forces me to put forth my best effort. I really want to take a course in Photoshop…and maybe one in graphic design. Possibly this summer (the single perk of teaching: a bit of time in the summer!)

for my toddler, we’re planning on swimming lessons this summer (she’ll be 3). and if not, then soccer, because she loves to kick her ball around the backyard.

    and: your photos are fabulous!

  37. Hi Lisa, Every morning I cannot wait to log on to your website to see the beautiful photographs you have posted. I also am inspired by your words. If you don’t mind my asking, what kind of camera do you use? I am looking to upgrade. I would love to take a digital SLR class and learn how to do portraits and nature shots.

  38. My 9 year old daughter knows how to knit and likes it! She is also in an art class that takes place for an hour once a week right after school. The company is Kidz Art. She loves that too! She is getting into sewing now. Thank goodness her grandmother can do this. I am a knitter but not a sewer – yet! Then softball and her racing season is starting in a week (she drives a jr. dragster). whew…you are right, not enough hours in the day.

    P.S. Love your blog.

  39. I’ve been wanting to do a photography class too! I love my camera, I just want to not have to photoshop every photo anymore! LOL

My 4 year old starts her first dance class today! Its so exciting!! I danced from 7-19 and loved it! She is a very different girl than me, but the kid walks around twirling. Its going to

  40. I’m starting a 4 week sewing class on Monday, and have been trying to find a photog class that I can a) afford and b) make it based on my work schedule. there don’t seem to be many night classes around here for photography! 🙁

  41. Clara and Megan have expressed a desire to start piano lessons. Many of their friends are taking them. Does Matty want to take them or are you encouraging him? Will Mom say I told you so?

  42. Hi Lisa,
My children all play a string instrument and the piano(yes, I know it’s a string instrument). Music is a world-wide language and a gift to those that play as well as those that listen. In our home music is not optional. My children have do or have done sports, art, 4-H, and public speaking. Having 5 is fun because there are many personalities. Oh, and I start a photography class on Saturday, yippee. Thanks for this beautiful space, you could teach a class in photography, blogging or jewelry making. If you lived closer we could do this class together, I hope you find time to do one near you. Until next time.

  43. Sadly my daughter has convinced me to take a knitting class with her on Saturday. I suspect it will not be pretty. I am horrible at following directions…but I’ll do anything for extra time with her. She is lovely inside and out.

Hey, listen, though. I would be happy to teach you to clean house. I will show you the basics and then you can practice for several weeks in my home until you learn it correctly.

Let me know. I may have an immediate opening.

  44. I’m taking a photography class. I love taking pictures and want to learn how to shoot manual. My children will start soccer soon. We try to keep the running to a minimum. It’s such a fine line between enrichment and overscheduling.

  45. Oh my goodness. You are such a talented photographer, but I know what you mean about the technical stuff. I have been taking classes and it helps a lot. Your images are incredible, though. I especially love the one with the farmhouse in today’s post.

My kiddos are into soccer, so we have a reprieve right now. It’s kinda nice. In the meantime, they are enjoying legos, art and playing outside when the weather permits. No DS around here.

Oh, Lisa, how did you get those awesome words and the scallops on your photo collages? I love that! I am a huge scrapbooker, but haven’t much time lately. Love this option. Thanks!

  46. My 17 year old plays travel ice hockey and my 13 yr old plays travel soccer.
We are constantly on the go with all the games, practices, and training.
Way more injuries in the ice hockey department. Stick with the soccer !!

  47. Oh, I would love a better camera and to take photography classes again! I took one with my best friend years ago and loved it. I would love to take ballet again too. I have danced on and off throughout my life, the most recently being about 5 years ago. I love it.
My daughter takes ballet and violin lessons. She’s like a sponge… learning so quickly.
Just for the record, I think your photography skills are amazing.

  48. My daughter was into gymnastics, piano, ballet and liturgical dance. My middle son was involved in baseball, soccer, art, guitar (band), biking and running. My youngest is just now 8 so he’s only been involved in art and soccer so far. We’re looking at guitar or piano lessons for him. Most music teachers around here don’t want to start until they are in 4th grade. Also thinking karate might be something he would enjoy.

I really would love to take photography classes, but that would make me want a new expensive camera. I love to sew and can smock. I think quilting would be the next thing on my sewing list.

  49. My kids are too busy (and so are we as a result!)… Lauren (4) takes dance, gymnastics, swimming, soccer and golf. Connor (7) takes piano, basketball, swimming, golf, catechism. He also wants to learn to skatebaord this summer!

As for me, if I ever get the time, I dream of photography and knitting classes.

    Take care!

  50. First of all, I LOVE your pictures, they are like a serene mini-vacation for me every morning over my coffee.

My son is into Basketball and Baseball, and several extra-curricular academic clubs since I want him to be well rounded. He’s allowed to try anything (with in reason) but he is required to compare it to his calendar to make sure he is ready for the time commitment. If he decides he doesn’t like it he knows he has to finish the commitment he made in the beginning, be it one year or 6 weeks or just the once. This has helped us a lot since there are no arguments over study or practice time.

I would love to learn more about me, all I know is that I am an enigma to myself most of the time.

  51. my kids take piano. i’m learning guitar. and i’ve learned to sew a little (from lindsey. she is a gracious sewer, so good to learn from).

i’d like to learn photography. my husband could teach me, but not enough hours in the day.

  52. I would love to learn Italian (and then spend a month in Italy). I love to cook and wish I had more time to do that.

  53. I am a piano teacher and I LOVE helping children (and adults) discover the art of music. It is just the best job!

My daughter is 3 (almost 4). She is involved in music (of course) and horseback riding lessons.

I would love to get a nicer camera and learn more about photography. Every morning I look forward to logging on and seeing what new pics and thoughts you have posted. I LOVE the birds on wire pics that you post–they always make me feel wistful and remind me of the “from up here” necklace (which I WILL own someday!!!). Thanks for this beautiful blog.
