a couple weeks ago we took the boys whale watching. what fun! i won’t mention that it was c-c-c-cold and that both steve and i got seasick. the boys had a blast and we saw risso dolphins and humpback whales. i was really hoping the humpback whales might show off and jump out of the water, but they just swam around the boat.

thanksgiving is just a few days away! we are so looking forward to time with family. what do you have planned??

  1. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Aussie, but I am very much looking forward to our Christmas break. We have a family holiday house down the south coast. I plan to spend about 2 weeks just relaxing, reading the book I started nearly three years ago, enjoying the beach daily (its just a walk to the end of the street) and our regular holiday day trips to Milton and Mogo.

  2. Ooooohhh, looks like some real fun was had!

I have those rain boots from Target too! Love them. They will be on my feet this year as we plow through the acres of land looking for our Christmas tree. Fun!

  3. We’ll be having dinner with the entire family. About 20 of us all sitting together eating and laughing and enjoying holiday and political talk.

Everyone brings one dish to the Thanksgiving table so one person doesnt have the task of making the entire meal. Its a lovely tradition and we always look forward to tasting every one else’s dishes. Even the kids cook! Its great!

    happy Thanksgiving! Love your blog!

  4. I am so insanely jealous that you go to see whales! That is a dream of mine. We live near VA Beach and took our little one to see the dark gray dolphins around there this past summer; which she loved! She kept calling for the “wishies”. Hopefully we’ll get to see whales one day. My husband has done it twice, I believe!

I am also excited for Thanksgiving. My dad has 3 amazing meals planned… which is preventing me from doing as well on my diet as I wanted to do!! The yummy stuff is worth it, though! We’re heading up to Pennsylvania early Wednesday morning, and we’ll stay until Sunday. We’re also going to an Advent dinner at my dad’s church, which is something I’ve never done before!! :o)

  5. We will be spending time with my boyfriend’s family who are coming in from everywhere! I am beyond excited. His nephew is a bit older than my son; I told Turner last night that Jaxon is coming and he sat an waited by the door, then showed me everything that he was going to do with Jaxon, it was unbelievably adorable. I think I may hear about Jaxon for the next three days.

  6. That sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day. I’m shivering just looking at the photos, though! The boys looks like they had fun. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

    Take care, God Bless. πŸ™‚

  7. My husband and I used to travel a lot before we had kids, all over the world, but the best trip we ever took was a Juneau Bay, Alaska cruise. We could not get enough of the whales! Nice photos. What camera do you use?

Our Thanksgiving plans: Everyone’s coming to us, and we’re getting lots of side dishes from Whole Foods! This year, my mother-in-law’s bringing the turkey, too. Thanksgiving Day is my birthday this year, so I’ve decided to take it relatively easy!

  8. WOW! We’ve never been whale watching! Lovely photos. How exciting. Must add to the list of things to do before I die.

We’re having some family over for Thanksgiving for the usual turkey dinner. Our boys will be thrilled to play with their cousins.
We might also be getting our Christmas tree…if we can get someone to come with us to help us with the babies.

  9. I am VERY excited about Thanksgiving this year! Our two girls (age 8 and 10) will be staying with their awesome grandparents up in the Bay Area. We’ll drop them off on Wed. evening and pick them up on Sun. afternoon.

The girls (and grandparents) are soooo excited about this, as are we. πŸ™‚ Four nights with just my hubby and me…not sure if we’ll even know what to do with ourselves. But so far, plans include lots of relaxing time at home, some projects in the garden, wine tasting with friends, a (small) turkey dinner for just the two of us, and maybe a few movies. We’re also having murals painted in the girls’ bedrooms as an early Christmas surprise. We’ll miss them like crazy, but i think it will be a good thing for all of us.

  10. We are heading to the parade in NYC & then spending the rest of the weekend with friends. I sympathize with you on the seasickness (I suffer too!), but I was also thinking what a self-less parental sacrifice – both of you getting sea-sick so your beautiful boys could go whale watching! What we do as parents!!!

  11. I love your blog for so many different reasons~~~ First, of course to hear about your family — your jewlery — and selfishly for me when you talk about the area you live — I grew up in Morro Bay, Atascadero and Templeton so when you post photos like today it brings me a bit of home!!! Thank you for that.

  12. How fun! My kids would love to see the whales.

We’ll be staying here, just the four of us. A good friend will be here for a few days. I miss living so far away from family around the holidays. I’m the only one not back home.

  13. Oh how I miss living in California sometimes~especially when I see your pictures of the ocean.

We will be spending Thanksgiving with all of the family that lives here in Texas, sharing our thankfullness and blessings over a yummy dinner. My two kids are the youngest, so they will undoubtedly provide all the entertainment!

  14. How fun! Whale watching has been on my “to do” list…for about 5 years now, ha ha. Thanksgiving will be quiet this year, and i cannot tell you how excited i am about that! My husband and i decided to just take some time for ourselves – i’ll make us a yummy salmon dinner (no turkey!), we’ll watch movies, have a fire in the fireplace, and drink wine. Lots of wine. πŸ™‚

Christmas time will be hectic with lots of parties, weekend trips and family dinners, so we figured we needed T-Day just for us to reconnect. Blessings to you and your sweet family!

  15. we will definitely be spending time with family. it is the first time my sister will not be able to travel and be with us, so that is sad… but the rest of us will be together.
i love the pix of the trip. that is so awesome!
