let’s play outside.

the boys have been loving being outdoors lately. the combination of sidewalk chalk and a spray bottle has kept matty busy.  he draws pictures and then sprays them and it makes the chalk really vibrant.  i moved david’s tool bench outside and he has been enjoying playing with it (which often involves knocking it over). summer is coming and i am ready!!  how do you encourage your kids to play outside?

  1. This past week has been rainy so we have had to be creative this week with outside play. We have been wearing rain clothes and running out for a few splashes in the puddles and hail here in Ontario.

  2. oh. my. goodness. just got *the email* that let me know my family tree necklace is on its way. i think i will go sit by my mailbox and wait until it arrives. that’s how excited i am!

  3. Sometimes I’m begging them to come inside (“Aren’t you HOT?”) and sometimes I’m begging them to get outside!

Last night it was, “Let me know when you’re ready to come in and it’ll be bedtime” – that was good for a long stretch of uninterrupted kitchen work, ha!

  4. after months locked up inside, enduring a MN winter, there’s no encouragement needed! Just the inviting look of a swingset that’s NOT under snow and we’re out the door!

  5. you know…i keep trying to buy henry some sidewalk chalk, but andy’s neurotic side comes out and he doesn’t want the concrete to “get dirty”…and he doesn’t want to have to hose it down all the time…sheesh…

  6. I sit outside and read a book under the shade tree while they play in the water or whatever their imaginations have them doing that day. They also love to help me with my flower beds and watering all my plants and flowers.

We love to be outside and are so excited it’s summertime!
