little moments that make up big memories

nothing fancy, just a rubber ball, a patch of grass and some slick 5-year-old moves.  but while i was editing these photos, it struck me (as it does from time to time) that this is matty’s childhood.  his childhood that he’ll look back on as an adult and reminisce.  little moments that make up bigger memories that blur together.  it feels so big!  i don’t want to underestimate the importance of the everyday.

  3. WOW, that is all I could think when reading your post. Because it is so true, I know I don’t stop long enough to enjoy my kids some days or let them enjoy. And what will they remember most, how clean the house was or playing tag in the back yard? Thanks for reminding me what childhood memories should be…….

  4. just blogged about this very same thing a few days ago! with a different focus however… bubbles! let us be ever mindful to embrace such delightful everyday moments.

(saw your parents at church last weekend by the way. with lana & crystal. brought back great memories! 🙂 )

  5. So True… I want my kids to have the good fun memories I have from my childhood. Days spent in creative play… outside… with family and friends.
From what I can see you are helping him create some wonderful memories!

  6. Love this! I look around sometimes too and realize that THESE days are what they’ll remember just as I remember the days of my childhood.

  7. How true…this simple moment may very well be one of his fondest memories…you never can tell which will be the ones that stick out in our adult minds…
P.S. Thank you so much for the kind comments over at my little blog! It means the wolrd!

Plus, he has the greatest Auntie in the world.

  9. Love the boots! Lisa, you do such a great job of capturing the boys’ childhood, and you do a great job of inspiring us all to be better Moms and live every ounce of life that is handed to us! Thanks!

  10. Just thought I would let you know that you make my life funner. Just in the couple minutes that I read your posts it lightens my world. Thank you for always sharing the Joy of your boys with all of us out here. 🙂

  11. You’re so right. It’s too easy to get caught up in the “busy-ness” of life…. What do we want our children to remember from their childhoods? Moments like the ones you so often capture through your photography are the moments that really matter.
