haircuts and inspiring decor.

blog friends, decorating By May 6, 2010 17 Comments

have i complained about haircuts before?

for me, it’s a chore right up there with laundry.

i love getting my own haircut, it’s taking the boys that is so tiring.

probably because david screams the whole time.

but the good part is the salon is soooo cute.

it’s called bluebird salon and there are so many creative touches.

i think the owner is part genius.

and speaking of genius, do you know of my real life friend cathe?

she is amazing. check out her post on a kitsch makeover. i’m smitten.

i love this painted buffet.

love love love it.

i dream about it at night.

if it shows up missing, it’s because i stole it.

check out THIS painted buffet. i die. love it.

and one more painted dresser in an entryway. lindsey is so creative.

little birdie touches, books

and some darling wallpaper.

check out melissa’s post on wallpaper. so inspiring!!

and some amazing wooden floors.

oh i love wood floors.

what’s your decorating style?

what’s inspiring you today??

the weather and landscape were amazing this weekend.

wow. the desert is so different than home.

i enjoyed taking it in.

it was very stretching for me to travel and speak without a friend or my husband.

but the ladies were so inclusive and friendly.

i made a bunch of new friends this weekend. {thanks ladies!}

in the photo above–me,

kim of today’s creative blog

jyl of mom it forward and gno twitter parties

cindy from skip to my lou

and laurie from tip junkie.

i was on a panel with two other ladies, for a three hour session.

3 hours seemed so daunting, but it flew by!

and i learned so much.

marlynn from urban bliss (also my roomie for the weekend) and laurie are so knowledgeable.

i was taking a bunch of notes during our session.

and there was lots of time to hang out and chat with people.

i met the camera strap lady, sheyB

one of my social networking idols, loralee

and steph from somewhat simple.

so many great conversations.

and yeah, there may have been a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake

shared with my new BFF angry julie.

a final photo as i walke dto the lobby to checkout of my room.

i love the way the sunlight was streaming through the slats.

tiffany and heather, THANK YOU for making bloggy bootcamp happen.

friends + inspiration

blog friends, events By March 31, 2010 No Comments

last night’s open house was so much fun.

it was held at my friend susie’s new home.

they just finished building and

they’ve created a modern environment, perfect for their family.

i would describe it as industrial meets danish modern with lots of warm details.

their family homeschools and has a passion for books.

there is lots of open space to be together

and plenty of natural light pouring in the windows.

blue corduroy was there with her darling dresses, hats and bags.

vintage fabrics, and sheets paired with modern prints. love!

oh, if i had a little girl!!

lindsey was there with tea towels, aprons, and lots of yummy goodies.

she’s the brains behind the stitch market. she’s so good.

and have you seen dondibags? so fun.

my friend joy had darling sushi themed baby tees. and the cutest display.

she has a knack for decor (that’s an understatement!!)

and love that library shelving above.

i saved my favorite bit for last.

one wall paper with orla kiely and the most awesome chandelier i’ve ever seen.

so fun, so inspiring!

so completely thrilled to be part of the newest artful blogging.

i absolutely love this magazine.

so inspiring, and filled with amazing images and creative women.

i’m so excited because the article doesn’t just talk about jewelry,

it talks about david’s birth and why i started the business.

it’s kind of a brief account of our story.

and there are so many other wonderful blogs featured.

go pick up a copy!

about three years ago, i shared david’s birth story in 5 chapters.

these are the original posts, and there are a few spelling errors,

it doesn’t flow perfectly (i should really re-write it!)

but if you have a few minutes and want to hear more details,

you can click through the links to share our journey.

chapter two

we’re here!  we hit traffic on the way to the airport but thankfully made our flight.

then after a mix-up with our room, we were upgraded to a suite…sweeet!

chrissie, sarah, and i all have the same toothbrush.  what are the chances?

one in a million?!  insane.

the grounds are amazing.

lush gardens, multiple restaurants, lots of twinkly lights

scrolly ironworks and koi ponds.  beautiful.

we just devoured the most amazing chocolate cherry cake.  so rich.

now i’m ready to go relax and wind down with some tv.

do you blog?  any questions you want answered while i’m here?
