an everyday moment

January 19th | an everyday moment

i want to capture more pictures of every day moments. the mundane stuff. the stuff that sometimes feels hard because i’m tired and it’s one more thing.

but isn’t it the everyday tasks and chores that can be the sweetest moments together? the moments fill up our days and are so much of our ‘together’ time. i want to treasure these moments.

so we’ll start off with bathtime. which the boys love and most of the time i’m tired and i don’t want too much splashing. but i must say, there is nothing NOTHING better than a freshly bathed, yummy smelling kiddo.

we are off to take david to LA for cardiology and pulmonology appointments tomorrow and friday. we expect both appointments to go swimmingly, since he is doing so well!  even doctor visits can be sweet moments!

what everyday moments do you need to treasure today?

I love just taking a moment to enjoy the bedtime routine with my kids instead of just rushing through it 😀

I totally soaked up the early morning cuddle time with my 11 month old this morning… little footie pajamas, fluffy blankets, sun rising.. it was perfect!

Such sweet boys~ such sweet moments:) I will pray for you all at your doctor visits.<3

  13. Oh, lets see…..I love the laundry over flowing EVERY day, sink full of dishes, toothpaste left in the sink and poopy diapers!…….Monday-Friday……… Just kidding.

I know that when all of these “chores” are gone, I am truly going to miss it. After all, it’s the little boys whom I love so dearly, creating all of these messes! lol

Hope all goes well at the doctors with David. I always get scared when I take my oldest son to the doctors for his repeat MRI’s. He had a brain tumor 3.5 years ago. I have all kinds of stories in my life to share. The good Lord must have thought that I was pretty special for all of these “events” in my life. I just keep tugging along…….. usually praying my little heart off, begging for mercy. lol

  14. PamJ says:

    awww… that smell IS great.

the moments i need to treasure today and everyday are the times i am sitting at my desk trying to get work&emails sent&done when a lil toddler or pre-schooler comes & begs to sit on my lap. i better take those cuddles as i can!

  15. Jenny says:

  19. wendy says:

You are so correct – how easy it is to over look the seemingly small and mundane moments. Today, I savored reading books with my “baby” (she’s 2, can I still call her that?) Laughing over the dinner table and praying together before bedtime – simple.ordinary.AMAZING

Your boys are so stinkin’ sweet with contagious smiles! Prayers that all goes well at the Doctor!

  20. You’re so right! It’s those moments that end up being the sweetest! Good luck at David’s appointment tomorrow.

I often find myself taking the whole bedtime routine for granted. It’s at the end of the day…and I’m pooped. I work full time, so I rush home, make dinner, clean up and do a load of laundry or two, and try to pick up the house a bit and by the time bath & bed time roll around I am in such a rush to get her put down so I can unwind.

Just this evening I sat there and rocked her extra long. I know these moments won’t last forever, and there will be a day when she doesn’t want/need me to do that anymore. :(

You’ve got to cherish the small moments…they’re all the good things life is made of! :)

  22. rhea says:

i agree! sweet smelling kids are great. whenever i bath my kids i have to smell them. they think that i am crazy – well i am!!!! lol!

  23. Mrs Montoya says:

I NEED to cherish homework, but man it’s hard!!! Saying a little prayer for David’s appt ~ Not that he’ll need it! Be well

  24. What a very moving reminder! I love how you said to enjoy/capture the mundane stuff, the stuff that feels hard and is just one more thing. That statement really awakened me.
    Thanks for sharing.

  25. Stephanie says:

Thank you for maknig me stop and think this morning. I have two of my own, one is 4 and the other is 19 months and though some days I feel like I’m going crazy I have to remind myself that these are fleeting moments and one day I KNOW I’ll want that chaos back! (((hugs)))

btw…LOVE the new necklace! I really like mason jars too..reminds me of growing up when my mom would can veggies ALL summer long!

  26. I agree wholeheartedly that the everyday moments are the best. I look forward to my morning cup of coffee. It’s funny because I sit down with my cup every morning under that illusion that today it will be “me time” then I hear my 4 year old come down the stairs with a “good morning mommy” that turns into a nonstop conversation on his part about his dreams. On one hand I get frustrated because it’s pretty much my only time to myself but I love that boy and his dreams.

  27. Paige says:

I am enjoying the winding down at the end of the day with my husband and talking over a meal or a cup of coffee.

  28. Piper says:

Sending up special prayers for David’s appointments.

  29. Gussy says:

when Zack comes home and I’m tired after having so much work responsibility on my plate… and a puppy to look after… and just plain needing Zack, I get frustrated some times. I need to remember it’s not HIM I’m frustrated at/over, it’s missing him <3

  30. Susan says:

Love the post :) good reminder. I will treasure the extra time with my 9 year old today who is home ‘sick’ from school (truly thinking the ‘sick’ is a simple wish to stay home from school today judging by the perfectly happy way he’s behaving and playing…. Ahem.)

  31. denise says:

this week i too have been taking pix of something mundane or ordinary from my day. i need to. it’s foggy outside, so i have to search hard for sunshine.

  32. tetcy says:

I treasured driving my almost 15 year old to school :) after an appointment at the orthodontist. :s

  33. stephanie d. says:

the first moments of them waking up. especially when one shouts out, “i woke up!”. treasured moments.

  34. Nikole says:

CUTE, Cute, Cute!!!! Thanks for sharing your adorable pics with us! I treasure these very same things! Unfortunately, I don’t always take pics of it all!Your family is so lucky to have a great wife and mommy who captures it all!!!!

  35. Philippa says:

Moments I need to treasure today – the way my darling Sabah the singapore cat just looked at me! The fact that my hubby is cleaning the kitchen worktops etc, even though we have visitors coming in an hour and he just used window cleaner right by the red currants I had thawed (home grown) to decorate my cake.. in the bin they went.. bless him for cleaning I guess! Smiles…

  36. Anne says:

When my girls were younger it seemed like they always wanted to talk right before going to sleep….I would be so tired….but made myself stop and think ….they may not always want to share these things with me…I need to take the time to sit and listen. I am so glad I did.
Hope your doctor visit goes well.

  37. Bridget says:
