the sweetest wedding and what i wore…

it’s wednesday, which means i’m linking up with lindsey again! i attended the sweetest wedding on saturday and this is what i wore. dress, vintage, ruby rose. boots, anthro. belt, local boutique. sweater, target.

i wore the molded heart bracelet which has been pretty much on my wrist non-stop lately. i used my fingers to twirl my hair while i diffused it and it made the curls more like ringlets. such a fun, beautiful day!

i’ve said before that i use herbal essence, body envy mousse and hairspray. love ’em and they’re cheap! share with us, do you have a favorite hair product?

  1. Thanks for your time to share this with us. I am glad that this information has been easy to find. You have no idea how hard it is to find articles the go right to the source.

  2. such a cute outfit.. love the boots. Cant wait to see the sneak peak newsletter.
My favorite must have hairspray is freeze-it in the gold/purple can.. love it! Even on a day when I should really wash my hair I can get away with teasing it a bit and spraying and itll look just fine.. and holds up great on rainy humid days.

  3. I actually don’t use any hair products — I have gone strictly to baking soda and vinegar for washing my hair.

My hair has never been healthier or shinier!

  4. I think it’s interesting that you’re using products that promote more body. With my very curly, very very thick hair, the last thing I need is any more body or volume. I’m making an effort to avoid any “cones” to help my hair out & keep the frizz down (silicone, dimethicones, etc.). Sorta trying to follow the “Curly Girl” philosophy that’s over at naturallycurly.com

But your hair is always lovely and no frizz, so your routine totally works for you!

  5. I love the dress….just my style! as for my hair that is straight as can be…with maybe one curl in it (just enough to cause trouble…haha) I use Peppermint Scrub shampoo…for everything…shampoo/ body wash…no soap needed. It’s so clean and fresh!

  6. LOVE “what I wore wednesdays!” They are my favorite! Love your style…it inspires me!

As for curly hair products, I am totally in love with Aveda products. A little Damage Control, a little Confixor, and Humectant are the best for soft, curly hair without the frizz or crunch!

  7. Mixed Chicks. A-MAZING. It was made for mixed races/mulatto girls like me. But, anyone with crazy curly hair would LOVE it. It’s changed the way I deal with kinky hair. The only place here in SLO county where you can get it is All About Hair Organic Hair Supply by the Carlton in a-town.

(I know it sounds like I sell the stuff, I don’t. lol I just ADORE it! They have a website, too.)

  8. Sebastian Whipped Cream for curly hair is the BEST!!! It keeps my hair curly and NOT crunchy (my nemesis) all day long and also conditions. LURVE. Our local Trade Secret has it for $15ish, it sells at the salon for $25-$30. Well worth it!

  9. i think i’ve tried every product on the market for curly hair. currenlty using mineral fusion curl care shampoo & conditioner, and ouidad styling products.

  10. typically the cheapest shampoo target is currently carrying. I am FAR from a hair-snob. no matter how much I love it, if the one next to it is on sale, I’m buying that instead. 🙂

love the vintage dress – I wish I could vintage shop more – just not convenient to my life. 🙁

thanks for sharing your life with us.

  11. I love Tresemme! I have naturally curly hair and it holds my curl perfectly and controls the frizz. I’ve used lots of different things, but their volume shampoo and conditioner and the extra firm mousse work great for me. The cheap price….well that’s just an added bonus!!!
I did however invest extra money in a nice hairdryer. My fav is the Sedu Revolution with diffuser. It cuts your drying time in half and controls frizz like a dream!

  12. I love C-Curl Creme by MOP. It’s a tad pricey, which my husband hates, but he isn’t the one who has to walk around with a big mop on his head when using bad product! Anything else just dries out my hair, and I hate that!

Wish I could dedicate some time to the diffuser route, Lisa! Your hair looks so sweet. That’s how I wore my hair at our wedding, only a little shorter and a little darker. Love ringlets!

  13. I love using the silver formula shampoos to help keep my silver white, not yellow. Haven’t found a conditioner I like yet, tho…

  14. I just love stopping by because you always bring a smile to my face. You are just beautiful and I always enjoy your “fashion show” on Wed. May you have a joy filled day!

  15. What I Wore Wednesdays are my favorite! I love seeing how creative you are with your wardrobe. Much more so than me…usually workout clothes and a ponytail! But you give me inspiration 🙂

I don’t really have a bag of tricks so to speak but I love the flush of pink after a hard run.

    Happy Wednesday!

    XOXO,
    Angie from Ohio

  16. I love the outfit Lisa! My favorite hair product is Kenra: Blow Dry Spray. I have super thick, but fine hair that takes forever to dry. This spray helps me out lots! It drys it so quick and leaves it soft.

  17. Lisa, you are just beautiful. I’m loving this vintage dress and your style is always so sweet and perfect. Love your picture posing, your jewelry is AMAZING. I just can’t think of anything negative to say. Gorgeous as always! Love, love, love.

  18. oh, I am a HUGE hair product snob!

I use rusk shampoo alternating with biolage every other day, kenra conditioner, short sexy hair styling gel, aveda volumizing serum, aquage transforming paste, short sexy hair wax and sexy hair hairspray! 🙂 I work to support my habit!!

  19. beautiful outfit. i remember when you posted about how you did your hair in a video blog…..what happened to those? i enjoyed those little videos you did.

  20. I like “Its a 10 miracle leave-in product”, though the price went from $20 to $40 I have not bought it in a looooooonnnnnngggggg time. So now it’s anything that keeps my frizz under control. 🙂

  21. thanks for sharing your hair product lisa! i actually just started using a new product, a curl mousse by redken & i am definitely not sold on it. my hair has been so difficult lately! i will have to try that mousse out next – it’s definitely cheaper!

  22. First of all…

Love it when you post Wednesday weekly.

I never liked to have any hairspray in my hair..
That just me.. people knows it. guess I’m picky.

    Happy Wednesday!

  23. I just purchased my first vintage dress from a local boutique. It is so hard to find them that fit me. They tend to run ultra tiny. I’m so excited about it.

As to my go-to product…it’s a new one for me and my curly days….Bumble & Bumle Surf Spray. For us girls that don’t live by the beach but love what the salty air does to our hair….this works so well! Just a few sprits and my curls are defined and not frizzy.

You look darling with the ringlets.

  24. Super cute dress love it! I used Deva products for curly hair THEY.ARE.AWESOME. Keep frizz down and make my hair feel wonderful!

  25. Your outfits are so cute! Love the dress so much.

I am absolutely addicted to Herbal Essences “Tousel Me Softly” mousse and their leave in conditioner. With my extra wavy hair, i use the leave in conditioner to tame fly-aways after my hair has completely dried. It also makes it smell great and stay soft/shiny as compared to the wet look some other products give.

    Have a great day!

  26. I’m a Paul Mitchell girl! But, I get it all at cost since I’m a hairstylist 🙂

LOVE LOVE that dress! So pretty and vintage! You can wear anything though and look great!

  27. {LOVE} the dress…so springy!

I used to be a hair product snob, but I have four kids…can’t afford that snobbery – especially since they were all becoming hair product snobs, too!

I use Suave shampoo and conditioner – they have a line that are just as good as the “real thing” (i.e., Matrix, Sebastian, Nexxus) and they average $1.89 a bottle.

But, I do use Prive products for styling and Kenra hairspray and gel because it is the only thing that holds my hair. So it’s a trade-off…a little cheaper on the shampoo and conditioner, so I can afford the good stuff to style with.

    Have a blessed Wednesdsay!

    1. I used to be a faithful Kenra hairspray user as well, but I discovered Freeze It, available for about 5 bucks at Walmart and Walgreens, and I find it to be just as good as Kenra! Changed my life!

  28. i’m kind of a snob when it comes to hair products… i have currently in my shower, paul mitchell, bed head and biolage! all of which i love 🙂

  29. P.S. Just realized that right now I am sitting with wet hair pulled back in a clip, reading a blog.
    See what I mean? 😉

  30. I am super lazy an use NO hair products! I always buy them and have good intentions of using them, but then I get really lazy when it comes to styling my hair. I would just rather read a blog and let it air dry 😉
I do have an obsession with Fredrick Fekkai Glossing shampoo and condition. It makes my hair so soft!

  31. love the outfit – i need to remember to pick up more belts to wear with my dresses! they always feel like they’re missing something, and then i see your outfit posts and i’m like “oh yeah! a belt!”

i’m with you on the cheapie stuff – i buy pantene 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner. i’m blessed to have straight hair that’s thick, not too dry and not too oily. in the winter i can go two days between washes, and in the summer i’m still usually able to skip a day!

no blow dryers, no curling irons, just wash and go! perfect for me, as i’m so low maintenance it’s almost laziness!

  32. Wow Lisa-lu, you shore look purdy LOL:) What a nice springtime outfit. You would be a great at-large model for Target and Anthropologie.
My favorite hair products right now are some from Burt’s Bee’s. There is an avocado pre-shampoo mask that works for my dry and stressed tresses. I also use a grapefruit based conditioner that works to clarify and tone the scalp. I can also recommend Paul Mitchells tea tree & lavender low suds shampoo.

  33. I love Wen products–It’s crazy good (especially if you have really curly hair).
    And I LOVE your outfit.
