  1. My sister and brother-in-law have three adopted children, two boys from Kazakhstan and a girl from China. They are all awesome children and we are so fortunate to have them in our family.

  2. Let’s all not forget the other side of adoption– the love and strength is takes for the birth mother to place their child for adoption. Most birth mothers are trying to provide a better life for their child through adoption. And that is a loss they have to live with every day.

I have personally experienced adoption from both the giving and receiving end, both the joy and sorrow it brings. It is a beautiful thing, and something that should be celebrated, as Lisa has so beautifully done.

Thank you Lisa for creating a piece that is so dear to many of our hearts!

  3. that is so beautiful. my sister-in-law and her husband adopted all 4 of their children and several good friends of ours have adopted children as well. it is such a wonderful blessing all the way around.

  4. Wow it is beautiful!!! Being an adoptive mom I will definitely put this on my mother’s day list. It doesn’t blurt out adoption but love! I have two chosen ones who grew in my heart not under it.

  5. We adopted our special girl from China in 2005. It is such a miracle to think she was born on the other side of the world and is now such a joy in our lives. A week before we left for China, we found out we were expecting a baby, too! Double blessing for us!

  6. I was adopted as an infant; not internationally, but adopted just the same. I could not have chosen better parents than those that I have been given. :o)

  7. I love this necklace! Our daughter was adopted through the foster to adopt program and I truly feel God placed her in our lives. She needed us as much as we needed her. I am going to get this to give to her for our “Happy Adoption Day” celebration in April .

  8. We adopted out daughter! It was a domestic open adoption. We were able to take her home from the hospital. Such a blessing!

At 6 weeks she was diagnosed with a rare syndrome…we truly believe that she was chosen for us. She is a true gift and we are always so thankful that her birth mother made the choice to let us be her parents.

  9. Hi Lisa!

I just got my first necklace that you made for Valentine’s Day…I came to your website to check it out and saw the adoption necklace and story.

Three years ago we adopted three little boys from Poland. They are our only children and we are amazed everyday at how much they resemble us, love us, and bless our lives. My wish list has your leather bracelet with my wedding day and our adoption day!

I love that adoption is more “main stream” than it used to be. Thank

  10. this is crazy that you posted this TODAY! We just sent in our profile to our agency and are so full of hope and then I see this! WOW! The necklace is lovely.

  11. I love the necklace! Will have to get me one!
We adopted our daughter when she was 5 months old (and is now almost 6 yrs old) from Czech Republic while living there. Adoption is a beautiful thing, isn’t it?!

  12. Love the necklace! We are just getting started on our journey to adopt a set of siblings (hopefully!) It’s exciting and scary at the same time.

  13. This blog entry and necklace bring me chills and happy tears. Both of our daughters are adopted. Thank you for this post! I need to be ordering me one of those necklaces! 🙂

  14. Ohh Lisa, this is beautiful! I have eight adopted siblings – five international, three domestic. Anything on the topic of adoption speaks to my heart and I think this necklace is sweet and so very lovely! What a treasure!

  15. What a cool necklace!! Like you, I have a younger brother and sister who are adopted. And our oldest son was adopted domestically when he was 5 months old (he’s 17 now). I am biracial (half Black and half White) as are both of my siblings and our son. It’s been my priviledge to be our son’s mom. I can’t imagine our life any other way. To me, adoption is just another way to grow your family. His life blesses ours as much or more than (hopefully) our life blesses him.

  16. SQUEAL! this necklace is SO COOL!!! i have 2 friends, gwen and suzanne, who have adopted.

gwen has adopted maggie and emily from china and joseph and daisy from uganda.

suzanne has adopted joshua and caleb domestically, and josie love (HIV positive when they got her, but currently her disease is UNDETECTABLE!), from uganda.

can’t wait to tell them about this necklace! they are the cofounders of 147millionorphans.com. you should hook up with them. tell them jenn nahrstadt sent you!

  17. Oh my…LOVE this. My father is adopted and we are in the process of bringing home our daughter through adoption from Russia. We are currently just awaiting our court date!
I am definitely adding this to my wish list!

  18. I have sole custody of my two nephews, and while we cannot officially adopt them yet (for reasons too lengthy to belabor here), the date that the judge signed our custody Orders is their “homecoming” date in my heart! Love the new design.

  19. Hi Lisa! I got one of your necklaces for Christmas with my initial on it, and I love it! Anyway, I come from a family with an adoption story. Myself and 3 of my siblings are biological to my wonderful parents, and then over time, they adopted 14 children with their sibling groups. A set of 2 brothers, a set of 2 sisters, a sibling set of 5 from Brazil, and another sibling set of 5 from Brazil. It’s quite the story, and God has done great things. Growing up that way has opened my eyes to what it means that God has adopted me into His family. Love the necklace you created about adoption!

  20. Oh my!!! I was just feeling sorry for myself that my hubby didn’t order a necklace from you for Valentines…but I know why now!!! Both of my kids are adopted and we are going to court tomorrow to finalize my son’s adoption. THANK YOU for choosing adoption and thinking about those of us who cherish these little ones who had to come a different “route” to be in our lives. There are NO coincidences!

  21. Love, love, love this Lisa! We are just waiting for a match with our agency… adopting after 7 years of secondary infertility. We can’t wait to bring home a little brother or sister for our sweet son that has patiently waited all these years.

  22. This is a beautiful necklace. Although I have no adopted children I would love to have this necklace as a reminder that as a Christian I am chosen, I belong to, have been purchased with a great price, and am loved beyond measure by my heavenly Father. Will also keep it in mind for the many folks I do know who are adopting.

  23. I love it & will definitely be ordering it to go with my other pendant! I like the idea of adding a date tag too.

I already have a (LL) necklace with our son’s name on it and also sent the “loved” necklace to his birthmom.

  24. OOoooooohhhhhhhhhhh! I am looking forward to purchasing one of these once we bring our little girl home!!

We’re smack-dab in the middle of the adoption journey right now — you know, the part where you wait forever-and-a-day? Oh, wait, that’s not specific enough, LOL, we’re waiting (again, always) for the phone call that will bring us one step closer to being matched. They told us sometime in the next week or two….

  25. OMGish! I am a foster mom hoping to adopt soon… and I LOVE THIS NECKLACE! You are so awesome! You know just what everyone wants!

  26. Adoption hasn’t touched my family, but your new necklace touches my heart. What a lovely way to celebrate something so wonderful!

  27. LOVE your blog Lisa. This necklace is beautiful. My husband and I talk about adopting a lot. I hope that one day, if it’s part of God’s plan, we will.

  28. I am a mom of two great kids, one by birth, and one by adoption – I love the phrase on the charm – so true!

I thought of you yesterday – I wore my Creative Connection necklace and got a compliment on it!

  29. Lisa, love, love, love this necklace! Our two girls are ours through the gift of adoption. It was a painful. It was redeeming. They remind me everyday about the gift of grace.

  30. This is beautiful and what a remarkable idea! I am blessed to be adopted. I had to chuckle because my other siblings (who are not adopted), used to tease me about my parents “not wanting me” and I would respond, “You are just jealous because I was chosen and they got stuck with you.” So the wording on this necklace is RIGHT ON!

I think that I will treat myself for Mother’s Day….

Love your blog…I read it everyday instead of the newspaper – so much cheerier and full of good vibes.

    Thanks!

  31. What a beautiful necklace and sentiment. It’s so lovely that you’re thinking out of traditional boxes and making something for everyone. xoxo

  32. As a mother of two kids through adoption, I am loving this necklace. I’ll be ordering one ASAP….or maybe I’ll put it on my list for Mother’s Day. It’s beautiful!

  33. My oldest son is adopted from Russia. We traveled in May 2000 and while there, I went into preterm labor with my daughter who was born in the same hospital as Nicolas (my son) just 10 months later. We waited for Children’s Medical Center Dallas to come and bring her back but she passed away after 6 days. We stayed in Orenburg, finished the adoption of our son and brought him back 3 weeks later along with Abigail’s ashes. It was bittersweet but we are so blessed to have him as our oldest child and cannot remember a moment or imagine a time he wasn’t our child.

  34. Gorgeous, sweet, and just perfect! Love that necklace.

I am excited to read your adoption stories, especially your sister’s. We also adopted identical twins! You are so right…adoption IS a beautiful thing.
