Nothing is Something

Doing nothing is not nothing.

Doing nothing is doing something.

Sometimes doing nothing is the doing hardest thing.

Because in doing nothing, in the quiet, in the emptiness, I cannot escape my thoughts.

In doing nothing I am faced with the good and the hard, the ugly and the beautiful,

The ache

The hope

The fear

The longing.

Many times I find myself doing something

Doing anything

To keep from feeling

What feels too hard to feel.

Many times I find myself doing something

Doing anything

To prove I am productive

To prove I am good enough.

To prove I am worth the space I occupy.

To prove I am worth loving.

I am doing better at doing nothing,

Doing better at believing I have nothing to prove.

I am enough.

The space I occupy matters.

In doing nothing I find something.

In doing nothing I find there is nothing

I can do to be more loved

Than I am right now.

Doing nothing is not nothing.

Doing nothing is doing something.

Sometimes doing nothing is the hardest thing.

  1. Love your posts, this one especially, sometimes listening to my inner self is harder than anything. God Bless you and your family in this life we live.

  2. This speaks true to me. After I last my infant son, I didn’t want to think or do anything and that just intensified the pain.

  3. In contrast keeping the mind busy is overwhelming and so extremely hard just to quiet the silence and thoughts; those words that can bring me down . I never looked at doing nothing in this way before.

  4. You and your space are truly special. Thank you for being you…. I received my second necklace today. I’m so in love with it.

  5. After losing my husband so suddenly, rezdi g some of your posts has been an inspiration its keeps me sto g and you give me such strength. I order your sunburst ring which I wear every day that way I know my husband is with me and he is the burst of sunshine when I am feeling blue. Thank you Lisa you are an inspiration to all. God Bless.

  6. That just might’ve been the most poignant writing I’ve been blessed to behold in years.
The emotions it invoked in my soul will last I hope for years to come. Absolutely beautifully wise and genuine. Thank you!

  7. This is so true. Today, many people believe if you’re not “doing something” you’re not doing anything. So they overschedule, always say “yes” or never spend anytime alone. As an introvert, I NEED my alone “doing nothing” time. That is how I re-charge. I would never make anyone feel bad about saying, “Sorry….I need some alone time.” It is important. It is necessary. It might seem selfish, but it is not. We are at our best when we are “ready” to face the public. Take your time. Take your time.

  8. I love this and is what I exactly needed to read at this time in my life. And I love the picture of you and your handsome. It is simply beautiful ❤?
