need a boost?

David has been quite content lately. His reflux seems to be under control. My mother in law brought some ‘Boost’ protein drinks with her last weekend. They are lactose free, high calorie and full of vitamins and protein. David just loves his new strawberry shakes. I am really hoping he will bulk up a little (he only weighs 20 lbs. at 5.5 years old). Every ounce matters! But the best part is we have replaced apple juice with the Boost drinks and he seems happier, more energetic and more content overall. I hope it continues!

  1. We also love our smoothies.. we use a protein powder that is very low in sugar and high in nutrients with
NO artificial ingredients.. They have vanilla and chocolate and we just add our favorite frozen fruit to the vanilla and banana and or Peanut butter to the chocolate… it is a Juice Plus shake.. if you want more info about it, let me know. I know how hard it is to make sure our kids are eating healthy.. I commend you on your searching!
Take care of those darling boys.. your family is so sweet & inspirational!

  2. Boost worked for us too, in a different way. My son has major mood swings when his blood sugar goes up and down. He is really hard to manage sometimes. The boost has enough protein to stablilze the sugar for a while. I don’t love the high fructose corn syrup, but sometimes you need to compromise. We also just discovered Clif nectar bars. They have a raspberry chocolate flavor that is wonderful. Lots of protein there, too.

  3. I too love Sambazon but for the acai juice. The smoothies all have apple juice so stick with the original blend, or the rio energy and there’s a 3rd one who’s name suddenly escapes me that is free of apple juice.

  4. Isn’t it amazing how we come to appreciate “the little things in life” when faced with such trying times. Our children pray every night for little David (and his special Mom) they love looking at your pictures to see what the kids are doing “fun” today. Thanks for your inspiration Lisa.

  5. you might want to try sambazon smoothies. all organic, non-dairy, super tasty, high in antioxidants, protein, fiber, vitamins. i love them as do my kids.

we buy them at vons, albertsons, whole foods. actually most natural food stores carry them too. strawberry and mango are big hits.

    your blog is great!

  6. Wonderful news! I don’t know David, but I can tell he is so sweet and special, just from the way you describe him. Your blog is so uplifting and encouraging. Thanks for taking the time to blog.

  7. I’m glad David is feeling better! Boost is great stuff! My friend’s daughter has leukemia and of course the chemo makes her have zero appetite. They have tried everything to get her to eat something so they tried Boost. She can tolerate it and that has helped a bit.

  8. My brother used to complain about stomach aches from apple juice when he was a kid, and it makes Caedra throw up. Neither of them have any problem with apples or apple sauce though. Isn’t that weird? I’m so glad David is feeling better with Strawberry boost! Yay!
