look what came in the mail yesterday!!  matty was beyond excited as i assembled his ‘color me playhouse’.  david refused to participate–little stinker!  the cardboard house is full of fun little windows to peek out of.  we worked for about an hour making it colorful and fun.  then once it dried, we brought inside and filled it with blankets, pillows and books for a hideout.  so much fun!

and color me house is giving two playhouses away.  one is a rocketship and one is a house.  aren’t you inspired??  leave a comment and tell us what you would do with a ‘color me house’.

  1. Oh, my artistic, imaginative little Chickie (3) would love going to town with her paintbrush this! I’m sure her little brother Zoodle (16 months) would have fun finger painting it. And then they’d play and play, especially with the door–they love doors….

  2. My little one would simply LOVE this! We lost our “clubhouse” this past Spring from a bad wind storm and can’t afford to replace it right now so this would be just perfect for her “clubhouse”

  3. My kids, the dog and I would have fun making summer memories in either the house or rocket. Thanks!

  4. So fun!!!! We have a Rose Petal Cottage for our daughter, so my son would LOVE to have his own little get-away spot 🙂

  5. I would take it to work with me and make it into the project of the week for all my children. I’m an OT and work with beautiful children from birth to 18 with all different diagnoses. It would be a great “get messy” project for the end of summer. It would provide a great quiet place for the kids to be imaginative in after it was finished.

  6. We are always trying to make empty boxes into things! How cool would it be to have one that really resembles a house or even a rocket. My 3 kids would love this!

  7. my dgtr Jamie would love the house as we are always”pretending”
and to decorate it youself … an added bonus !!!!

  8. We’d have HOURS of fun. What a FANTASTIC idea. i’m going to have to check it out.

I’m new to your business and your blog, but I LOVE it. I’m bookmarking you! Such great ideas!!!

  9. This is one the neatest things I’ve seen in a long time for kids. Even if I don’t win will you please share where you purchased it. It could be great given as gifts!!! 🙂 And as always LOVE your pictures and the way you capture not only the moment but I promise I can smell the air,the flowers, the food, the water in all of the pictures through your photography 🙂

  10. I would let my kids at school decorate it and would fill it with pillows and stuffed animals and use it as a special place to look read their books.

  11. what a great house! i’d give it to my 2 nieces and nephew who two weeks ago just had their world as they know it fall apart. they’re staying with grandparents for the next few weeks and it would be something they’d love to design and play with while distracting them from the reality of life.

  12. What would I do? I’d give it to my middle daughter Roxie. The middle kids just seem to get left out of everything. Her older sister is going to kindergarton and her little sis just had a 1st birthday. So a lot of the time she’s just stuck in the crowd. Well not anymore. I’d give it just to her. I think it would make her feel as special as she is.

  13. Hello Lisa – what an adorable house! Love it. My daughter Emma would absolutely go crazy over one. We would make it look like a school and use it in our school room! Thank you for the chance to win!

    Blessings,
    Marie

  14. my little guys (5 and 4) would go crazy for the rocket ship! They have been going a little stir crazy this summer…and this would be a great activity!

  15. My two little ones love forts & playhouses – they would love this! We could paint & decorate, then make it nice & comfy inside.

  16. I would sit on the deck and watch my two littles paint, decorate and play to their hearts content.

  17. Oh my I have 2 little boys that would absolutely love this! They love making forts with whatever! I
Would be so excited for them if they win! Thanks

  18. My three children would love this. They love making tents and having their own little area to play in. They’d love a little house! 🙂

  19. i would make my 3 girls the happiest girls in the world if i won the colour me house!! they always make houses, boat, cars, etc out of the cardboard boxes we get. this is just the most perfect thing i ever saw!! thanks for sharing.

  20. My 5 yr old daughter and I would paint to our hearts content, then cuddle up with a quilt and our favorite books, and enjoy the last bit of summer together. 🙂

  21. oh how fun! it beats the old refrigerator box he’s been using as a “house”! 🙂 my 2 year old would love to decorate this and i’d bet my 9 year old would jump in on the coloring fun! what a creative fun day for the kiddos and lots of fun days to come to play in the house.

  22. oh my goodness! that is the cutest thing! my kids would love that….my kids have been playing “vacation” after a weekend trip….now this could be their “vacation house”! thanks for the great giveaway!!!

  23. What a great idea! I’ve been looking at playhouses for my almost 4 year old but most are too girly or too commercial… This is perfect! You get to paint it whatever color you like (green, if my son has anything to say about it), decorate it as you wish, and its light enough to bring it inside at night…
    So cool!

  24. My 5 year old would love to color on a house that she could then play in. She wants a playhouse so badly but can’t affoard it. But this would be great for her and her little brother (he’s 1) to use together. Where can I get one and is it real expensive? Boy hope I win!

  25. My 17 mo old daughter would love this. She has just started pretending w/dolls so she would love this! Love your designs, just ordered my 1st one and can’t wait to get it!

  26. this looks perfect to SAVE our summer! my little ones are too small to go swimming everyday with mommy and daddy and we are over the heat and being outside until dinner time. this would give my little guy (sammy 4.5) a fun outlet to play while his sister is still napping! Where do I get this? Thanks so much!!!

  27. My 4-year-old daughter is so into making forts right now. She and her three best buddies next door would love decorating this and would have a ball playing “house” together! So fun!!

  28. While my children would be thrilled to play in this during the day, you just might find me curled up with a book in there at night. Oh…the childhood memories!

  29. My 4, 6, and 8 year old are very in to pretending and being creative this summer. This would be a great activity for them to work on together. I am sure they would spend a day painting and then endless hours pretending that it is a fort in the wild west and then a army bunker during the civil war and then a cabin in the woods and then Noah’s ark and then a rocket ship to outer space. Oh, the fun of childhood.

  30. My daughter is a bit young for this, so I would give it to my niece. Her family just had to move to a tiny trailer, so to have some space of her own away from both of her brothers would be really good for her.

  31. Oh my girls would have so much fun with one of those! We’ve already been through a few cardboard boxes this summer that we’ve made into various houses/forts/flower shops/cars.

  32. Brilliant! Over the years, we have built “houses” out of every conceivable box and blanket. How fun to have a real one to decorate. That would definitely make for happy kids during the dog days of summer.

  33. I am confident that it would be decorated with tons of pink hearts and two little girls would giggle as they climbed in and out of their house of love – as they yelled to mommy for some snacks to savor inside – on pink plates of course.

  34. I would watch my sweet Maya decorate with delight and then play inside her new little house for hours. She turns 3 in August and has the most fantastic imagination.

  35. My little Max would be “over the moon” with a rocketship to decorate. He’s 5 and his dream is to be a scientist and explore the moon! 🙂

Love how your house turned out…so colourful and fun! Hope your boys enjoy it for a long time! 🙂

  36. my Maggie would simply love this! It is so her and we would have so much fun decorating it. Hope we win!

  37. My daughter would love this! She’s so into going in and out of things lately (and opening and closing things and basically figuring out how things work). She’s also a big fan of coloring with those fat toddler-friendly tadoodles markers. And our dog would probably be right in there with her (so would my husband if he could fit…he’d want the rocketship). Yours turned out great!

  38. My daughter would love a little house. She is getting into everything and I think she would get a kick out of going in and out of the door and looking through the windows. She isn’t into coloring yet but I’m sure she will be soon! I might even hold off on giving it to her yet; with a baby sister due in October, this might be a great big sister gift.

  39. I think I would let my kids design the whole thing and I will not object or try to change their ideas in any way. I would just be an observer and let them do the rest…

  40. We would invite the kids in the nieghborhood in for some cool off time in this 105 degree weather.

  41. a color me house…the perfect opportunity for me to share some much needed “face time” with my little angels. what a great giveaway! pick me, pick me!!!
    thanks!

  42. My two year old and I would spend afternoons painting and gluing untill it was completely covered. (I would have to continually remind myself that it was really for him). What a perfect place for him to hide his favorite things!

  43. Wow, this is such a wonderful idea, it would allow my two sons to design the whole house. I would help my boys design it and bring it inside to use as a fort, and play dinosauers.

  44. Oh my!! We’d have a whole lot of fun with it is what we would do. From fancing it up to reading books in it to watching movies inside … I’m sure we can think up many adventures!!

    Happy Day!

  45. This would be great for the occasional “I’m bored” during summer downtime and for theupcoming fall and winter indoor time. Thanks.

  46. If I won the color-me house or rocket, I would put it away and save it for my little boys birthday- He loves to be creative and I think it would be a fun “mommy and me” project. I promise that we would put it to good use.

  47. Wow – We would have a fun fest! My daughter loves to create, color, paint, scribble… She is 4 so the art work is her style, but she loves it. This would actually be a family event for us! My husband is very crafty and loves to draw and create, my son takes after him as well. I envision the family in the yard crafting to our hearts content!

Thanks for offering such a great unique giveaway.

  48. I am going to be teaching Kindergarten next year and I can’t think of anything that my new students would love more!

  49. with 2 boys also, this little house would be the perfect summer hideaway, while keeping them entertained! the ideas are endless!

  50. How fun!! My little 3 year old would have a blast decorating it with all of our favorite colors! He’d be begging to pretend it was a pirate ship and we’d go sailing off!

  51. It would allow for a bit of spare time as the 5.75,4 and 2 year olds decorate & play, after baby #4 is born next month!

  52. I would give this to my 5 grandkids to decorate and use as their playhouse. The oldest 4 would love to use markers, and glue things on and little Jack is only 1, so he would squeal and get excited about what everyone else is doing! Hope we win. Thanks for a chance to win one.

  53. I teach k and 1 exceptional education (special Ed) and would love to have this in my classroom for my students to play in or to use as alone space when they need to move away from all of the stimulation. They would love to decorate it as well!

  54. I decided to be adventurous and ask the kids I nanny what they would do with a house they could color. The little boy said something about a hair piece most likely influenced by a movie we’ve watched. Wanted to share how funny that was. Also hope to win one just for them!

  55. I would definitely let my daughter go crazy coloring on it. She loves to color and loves to hide from me, so this gives her a place where I can find her! Thanks for the giveaway!

  56. My three year old son would love the rocketship!! I’m sure he would try to fly to the moon. my son and daughter would have a lot of fun coloring it.

  57. I think my kids would love either but I see great potential for the playhouse in our home…tea parties, sleepovers, and oh, the joys of decorating it – with paint and loads of glitter glue!
    j 🙂

  58. Our kids would LOVE to paint this playhouse. They are 6, 4, and 2, and it would be a perfect activity to do together. FUN!

  59. I cannot think of a more perfect gift for my son’s BFF – and her birthday is coming up in September so we would give it to her! But I’m sure she would let him color, too!

  60. Oh, my. I’ve never seen such a cute house before! This is absolutely perfect. We live in a small townhouse. No yard. My son would love to have a little hideaway like this! Looks like something that would offer him a creative space to hide and play in.

  61. Straight from my five-year-old’s mouth: “We would paint it, play in it, we would look out its windows, we would open and close the doors, we would hide in it, we would play pretend we’re sleeping in it…and that’s it. I don’t have any more things.” 🙂

  62. Our play room is rather sad these days. Our kids have outgrown their infant toys and life in general has not allowed new play things. Our son is turning 3 next month and our daughter Annie turned 2 three weeks ago. Our two 2 year olds are very much into pretend play and I know we’d have endless fun playing in and designing a color me house. Possibilities are endless really!

  63. My little guy (17 months) is just figuring out going in and out and around–he’d get such a kick out of this. And I can totally see it growing with him as he figures more things out, starts drawing and painting…What fun!

  64. My 18 month toddler is nicknamed “Dora the Explorer” by me because she is constantly looking for thing to explore! She would LOVE a play house to decorate using her new crayon coloring skills and go off on adventures!

  65. I would give this sweet house or rocketship to my 2 year old son. What an imagination he has! He is the master of imaginary friends, so I know all 20 of them would have fun playing in this house for hours on end!

  66. I think the coffee shop idea is THE BEST!!! We have a finished basement that people rotate through…any little ones that might come through our door would love it…I mean who shouldn’t learn how to be a barista…no matter how young.

  67. I know exactly what I would use this house for!!! We’re doing some “catch up” school this summer (we took a long break when little Georgia Anne was born). This color-and-play house would be such a blast for our little boys (2 & 4) while I’m teaching their big bro (10) and sister (7)!! I bet Georgia Anne would get in on the action by crawling inside & using the walls to stand up & then peeking out the window… adorableness should have been her middle name. <3

  68. Oh this is darling. I would love to have one to use for a special “Camp Out” with my daughter on the weekend before she starts kindergarten next month. She is so nervous and this would be the perfect project for us to do together as a family before she heads to school. CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!

  69. My 2 boys would adore this! My youngest would decorate and re-decorate to his heart’s content. My oldest would fill it with blankets, pillows, and books. Then we’d all “camp out” in it, telling stories and relaxing. The perfect distraction while my husband is out of town for a few weeks!

  70. I have 4 kids (ages 4, 3, 2, and 1 next month) and they would have a blast with that! The girls would try to color flowers while their 2 year old brother would try to color the whole thing black or brown and baby brother would just happily munch on the crayons. 🙂 What a great rainy day activity…or any day activity! I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to keep the kids away no matter how nice it is outside!

  71. my kids love to play drive in restaurant, so I think we would make it into a coffee shop where people could drive in or come in and have a cup. they would love going to work and making me lots of drinks and goodies!

  72. Ahh this would keep our 3 busy for hours-what fun! 🙂 I have a feeling each side would end up a different theme….flowers and girlie stuff on 2 sides and giraffes, elephants and other animals for the others.

  73. The rocket ship would be a super fun addition to my backyard…I’d invite the boy’s friends over, have them all wear swimsuits and go to town painting it. How fun!

  74. OH MY GOODNESS! I have 2 boys and they would absolutely love this. They love to pretend, and they love to play together. My oldest will be going off to school in a month and it would be nice for them to have that to play together while the summer is still here.

  75. Love it! This has to be any little kids dream. I can only imagine the days, if not weeks and months of entertainment this little house would bring. My 3 year old daughter and I are always making forts and playing make believe. “Let’s pretend” is one of her favorite sayings right now. And Tinker Bell seems to be at the top of her list, so I’m sure it would be decorated with all things Tinker Bell related and then it would be moved into Pixie Hollow (her bedroom) for hours of make believe fun!!!

  76. My kids would color and draw on it until their hearts are content and then use it for their “zoo” All summer the one activity that they play well together is “zoo,” with all 30 of their stuffed animals! My son has also been into space recently, so I am sure that he would love that one too!

  77. My son is sooooo in love with Rockets right now, he would think it was the best thing ever to have a rocket ship! He would for sure play in it alot! He loves forts and things like that! How fun! thanks!

  78. I would spend the last few weeks before my little guy goes off to Kindergarten, grab some Oreos ,and snuggle with him having a great time!

  79. Oh, my little man would love a rocketship! He is almost two and would have such fun peeking in and out. We just moved and he was so sad when we got rid of the last of the moving boxes, so this would be perfect. 🙂

  80. What an awesome idea! My daughter (former 24 weeker – surviving twin) is 3 1/2 years old and loves to paint and pretend! We would have a blast (get it!) decorating either house, and imagining our adventures…whether to the moon or in a castle. After all, every princess needs her own castle or rocketship! Our cat, Tudder, would also be a part of the journey. Emma makes him participate in all of her fun!

  81. My boys would LOVE the rocketship!!! They have made a plain ol’ box amazing, so I can only imagine a box meant for that!! What a great giveaway, thanks! 🙂

  82. I’m not sure who would enjoy it more-my daughters or myself! I love this idea. You’re photos are so inspiring, as well. Wonderful to see happy creativity!

  83. That house is so cool!!! Bekah and Sadie would be in heaven if we had one of those…..it’s much cooler than our old cardboard box with a cut out window 🙂 how fun for Matty and David!

  84. My daughter (9) would think it would be fun to sleep in it in the den overnight…..WITH ME IN THERE WITH HER!!!!!! Nevermind that I would argue and say that “I’m too old to sleep in there and my back needs a comfy bed”……We would do that with our fake latern as a nightlight and then it would be some Tylenol for me in the morning…..but WORTH IT :-}

  85. This would be an ideal “fort”…I would just let the kids loose with some paint and see what creation they came up with! Then we would bring it inside for hours of fun. What a great idea for those of us who can’t have a big wood fort in a tree in our backyard!

  86. Our grandddaughters would absolutely love this! We’ve used a huge box before, but this looks like it would be so special & fun. What a great idea!

  87. My little boy is currently obsessed with African animals and safaris. I’m sure the little house would be turned into an African hut from which he can watch lions and elephants and giraffes!

  88. My 2 little girls stay at home with their Daddy and he’s always looking for fun art projects and new things to play with that don’t require batteries, but lots of imagination. They would go insane with this!!!

  89. Oh my goodness! I have a daughter who loves to decorate EVERYTHING. She would have a blast turning that into a hangout for all her stuffed animals.
    Smiles!

  90. O The Places They Will Go!!!!!!!! To the Moon and back!
Our 3 yr old daughter and our 3 nephews (4, 2, & 9 months) would LOVE “pwaying” in that and seeing their own artwork! Great stuff to take to Nanna & Pawpaw’s house to do together!
    Thanks for sharing!

  91. I would give it to my grandsons. They love to pretend. It would encourage their imaginations and creativity… you know, help them think outside the box!

  92. my niece and nephew would LOVE this!! i have a craft day with them as much as possible and this would be perfect for the next one 🙂

  93. So cute! My kiddo’s love to play house and school with the neighbors! This would be perfect! I love things that inspire and spark their imaginations!

  94. I don’t have any kids, but I work with a small group of special needs children. I just know they would LOVE this idea!! It would be a perfect hands on activity.
    Great idea!

  95. I would love to give it to my bff, especially the rocketship. Her hubby just left friday for Iraq…again…he got back last October and now he is gone. His 3 little boys are not doing so well. Oldest is 7 and they could all use this fun distraction. My 2 little ones could go over and play with their creation! Thanks for the chance to play Lisa!!

  96. I loved this kind of thing when I was young! I would decorate and help the little ones play, play, play~!

  97. So much fun! What kid doesn’t like to make their “own” house and then to think they also get to color it the way “they” want to. I guess I think it’d be especially fun in the colder months when they got cabin (or should I say color me house) fever!

  98. What a fantastic fun project! My 5-year old daughter & her friends would love to decorate & play in a special little house together!

  99. How precious is that! My 2 boys would just love to play with a little playhouse like that. I love playthings that encourage creativity and their imaginations.

  100. How adorable! I’ve never see anything like it before, but it’s such a genius idea! My 2 girls, ages 3 & 5, would just love it…it would provide so many hours of fun for them…and for me, too!

  101. Oh wow, a cardboard house that’s not made with old boxes and duct tape?! My 5,4 and almost 2 yr old would have a blast playing with one I’m sure. They would probably take all their cooking stuff inside and have a picnic, I’d have to make sure and keep an eye on the baby or they might try and take her inside the house too! 🙂

  102. I love this idea. My kids would go nuts over the house. We will definately have one of these in our future.

  103. How fun is that…decorate your own house! Turn it into a school maybe my son would let me teach him if it was a school…so use to having therapist, special ed teachers teach him…doesn’t want mommy to teach him.

  104. One of these would be perfect for the “too rainy” summer we’re having here in the NorthEast. My kids would loooooooove it!

  105. I will put on my grubby clothes and spend some time in the backyard painting with my almost 4 year old!

  106. Hi Lisa

    happy day Lisa
    deezie

  107. How cute! Madelyn would LOVE this!!! We’d love to well, basically do the same thing you did..paint it outside, then bring it in to her room! Cute!

  108. either one would be perfect to give to the children who live “in our backyard” whose parents only seem semi interested in playing with them…

I would set it up with help from the kids and then bring down all my acrylic paints and paint with them….once again, I’ve never seen the parents do anything artistic with their children… and watch the smiles that would grow and listen to the laughter as they ran in and out of the little house, loving what their hands had created….

thanks for having such a great contest 🙂

  109. have all sorts of fun with my little man! he would LOVE the rocket ship so i must check out the site!

  116. I have to little girls that would think this was great.
I do not allow my children to paint walls in my house, but this would fill their desire to do that.
The possibilities are endless…how about wallpaper?
If the girls decide they are too big, there is always girfting.

  117. this would be a great gift for my soon to be 4 year old. He loves to make houses out of the sofa cushions. Finally, this house would stand for more than 2 minutes at a time!

  118. OH MY GOSH, my three year old would have a blast with this. Our last big box creation was up for months and it finally got so crumpled that I had to toss it….he’s been asking for it ever since.

  119. My son would love to play in a color me house. He is always hiding in places behind furniture that feel like little forts. He would love a little place all his own to play.

  120. That looks like so much fun! With all the rain we’ve had this summer, that would keep us busy for a week!!! We need something new and exciting to get the creative wheels going and get us out of a slump.

  121. OH my heavens my boys and I would color it up and set it up in the living room and watch a movie out of it! It would be a blast!!!!

  122. How cool! My two boys would love this. We are always looking for new and creative things to do and this is sure to be lots of fun. Great giveaway!

  125. What would I do with this? Easy question. I would give it to my grandkids. Our daughter is a SU demo and very crafty and I have discovered that my 4 year old granddaughter is taking after her and can do some very neat things. They would have a ball together decorating it. Thanks for the chance to win this unique prize.
    Cheryl Sims

  126. I would send my 5 year old inside to entertain herself for a while and have a few minutes of peace and quiet.

  127. I’d love to have this in my house; although I ‘m still pregnant and my nephiew is only 2 months old, I’m sure my god child would love it!

  128. My boys and I would have a wonderful time playing whith it.
I guess I’ll have to go look for a big box and make one myself. 🙂

  129. Oh! That is one of the cutest things I have ever seen! I love it! I have a 3 and 5 yr old and they LOOOOOOVE to color and play house, two of their most favorite activites, this would keep them entertained for days. Where ever did you find it?

  130. My six year old would LOVE this! Any time we get a large cardboard box in the house he wants to keep it forever for a fort. This would be one that he could keep and decorate with stick figures, spongebob and mario…. his favorites!

  131. my girls would LOVE this – combining their 2 favourite things – art and cubbies/forts/tents. The rocket ship would be even better right now since the just turned 6yo is very into space.

  132. These are AWESOME! I would give one to my two year old nephew. His dad is in the Army, and they have moved 4 times in the two years P has been alive. Before I gave it to him, I would draw some sock monkeys on the inside walls, and maybe a sock monkey peering in through the windows, for him to color. P may not be attached to houses, but he is joined at the hip with a sock monkey I gave him. A sock monkey house of his own? Perfection!

  133. My daughter would go crazy decorating this house with paint and glitter and all sorts of glittery stuff. She would remember this as a huge hilite of summer before starting in Kindergarten.sniff, sniff

  134. I’d donate it to our local women’s shelter and let the kids there decorate it and play in it. They have so little that is their own and little opportunity to just be kids.

  135. Oh my gosh! What a great idea! I have 2 boys and this would be great for when daddy is at work for 72 hours straight. My 2 year old would probably want to turn it into a pirate ship (he is obsessed with pirates)! I hope we win!!

  136. My little boy will be 2 on Sunday. He loves to color. And would love to color this house. I would help him color the house. And we would play, play, and play!! How cute!
