blue heron.

crane

the other morning, while photographing this family, i spotted a blue heron wading in the low tide.  so i ditched my friends to try to catch a few photos.  i know, fickle aren’t i??  but i love these birds.  they hang out on the central coast but i never seem to have my camera at the right moment.  so i didn’t mind going ankle deep in the tide to steal a couple pics.  and this bird was as tall as i am–no kidding.  then he decided to take flight so i could capture that, too.  beautiful.

  1. hello Lisa!
I love these birds too. Here, near me, we have the grey herons. It is very difficult to capture their flight with a camera! You have done a great pic!

  2. Hi Lisa,
    LOVED seeing this heron.
Down here, we get grey, black and goliath herons that are large like this, and then several small herons. The blue crane is very elegant, sadly endangered and our national bird. So glad I got to see thisone of yours , just because I was looking & wishing on a birthday gift for me, from your store…

  3. i have to ask, are you for hire to do family photography? i live in the area and i have some family in town from the east coast and would love to find a a photography to takes some picts of them at the beach.

  4. Wow! Just beautiful! We’re headed to Carmel for our Spring Break in a week. I hope I can capture some of our stunning CA wildlife, too!

  5. I, too, love blue herons. When we lived in VA Beach and the kids were in preschool we used to see them on the way to school. We would search and the first one to find them would shout it out. They are so majestic.

My Dad, an avid fisherman, can’t stand them and has quite the unpleasant name for them since they eat the fish he’s trying to catch. lol

  6. Beautiful pictures. I’d have done the same thing. Such awesome birds. I saw one once when we were in Indiana. You may have to start selling your photography. I wouldn’t mind a print too.
