my mom let me choose one piece of her furniture when i was in high school

(to save for when i got married)

and i chose this handmade wood sideboard.

i just switched out the knobs for glass.

and hung ocean artwork above.

we found these super cheap aqua leather chairs

at a discount store and we have one at each end of the dining room table.

then i hung a bunch of frames on that huge wall.

it still might need more, but it’s a start!

these tall lanterns are from cost plus.

only $10 each. yikes!

and i filled them with shells and a pillar candle.

we have a few cutouts around the house.

in this one i stacked some books and globes

and hung a vintage print.

those flowers are from bed bath & beyond by umbra and they are seriously cute!

so affordable and i love that they add dimension.

what’s your next home project??

  1. Love your decorating! You have a beautiful home. Our next projects are turning our half master bath into a full master bath, new counters and knobs in the kitch but, first off finishing our privacy fence!

  2. OMG! I am so in love with your home and am totally inspired! We bought a almost 100 year old house last year that is a major work in progress. Since moving i I have lost much of my design vision. this has excited me to get going again!

  3. Love looking at pictures of your new house and your decorating! It’s beautiful! I especially love the first picture and your lanterns on the dining table!

  4. I love the design style you have. Very cute. If it is ok with you, I am going to have to steal a few ideas. 🙂 I love the aqua cabinet next to the chocolate chair. Love. Love. Love.

  5. Love your new house Lisa. I adore those dishes. Love the aqua and the beachy feel of your new home. I am always changing things and decorating. I am pretty much done with everything but I would love to paint our downstairs bathroom a crispy white. Thanks for always sharing the best photos with us

  6. Yay, Lisa – I was thinking about putting a spray of flowers on on two small walls in a corner of my bedroom … and wasn’t sure where to get them till now! You know you never finish decorating – my place is awesome – lots of colors, lots of pictures and a few surprises tucked away. I love the way everything in your house looks … it’s inviting and comfortable.
    Thanks, Lisa!!!

  7. I love the aqua. We just moved, also, and I wish my house looked as great as yours. I’m working on a dining room, and I’m wondering where your table is from. I love it.

  8. what a lovely home!
the aqua cabinet is gorgeous !!
i love the colors you’ve chosen especially with all the coastal touches
    gorgeous

  9. Oh Lisa!
I just loved getting to peek into your new home!
Glad to hear you are feeling settled!
Love the sideboard your mom gave you for your wedding! Such a special piece.
And the aqua cabinet is fab!
Let me see…what is my next project?
I NEED to paint a few pieces of WHITE furniture with MORE WHITE paint!
Before I moved…Greg bought the WHITE paint for all of our furniture.
I told him a thousand times to get an eggshell finish!
I mean a thousand times…feeling a bit guilty for being such a NAG!
    So I get to Bainbridge.
Ready to see all of my WHITE painted furniture.
As I began to look at it closely…I said is this an EGGSHELL finish.
    He said No..it’s FLAT!
    I was LIKE WHAT!!!!
Did I not say EGGSHELL a thousand times.
He said I never heard you say EGGSHELL…you just said WHITE.
I was delighted to FIND the EMAIL that specified EGGSHELL!
So….I need to go over all of this white furniture with an eggshell finish.
Right now there are several pieces…like our dining table and coffee table that just don’t look finished. Our dining chairs are white…from West Elm…and they are slick.
SO the table just needs a more finished look!
    WOW! Woozie!
That was WAY more info than YOU asked for…or needed! ;o)
    Got carried away there!
    Love your house!
    Happy Day Sweet Lisa!
    Love you to pieces!
ANd I am SERIOUSLY considering making plans for Blissdom this year! Yeah!
    xo

  10. I just painted our laundry closet, and up next (by the end of the week) will be my kids bathroom. We’re doing “kiwi green”, turned down a notch. I found this great shower curtain at Super Target, with owls, trees, birds on there (works perfectly since I have a son, and a daughter). I’m mod-podging some art work for the walls. (I recently discovered mod-podge, it’s awesome!).

After that….maybe repainting my son’s room (at his request) and our main living area!

    Love your home photos! 😉

  11. Hi Lisa,
I had to do a triple take at the print of the lady with the flowers. My Mum has the same one!

  12. Okay, I am TOTALLY in love with your home. You have EXQUISITE taste! Love the use of aqua here and there, it is such a gorgeous colour. that is the colour that I’m going to paint my studio. We are in the process of painting our living room/dining/kitchen area, which are all interconnected. The living room is painted (one wall and a bit are done in beautiful rimu wood panelling, so no need to paint! I still need to paint the door and skirting boards and then move round to the kitchen which will take me a whole weekend to do two coats. It’s not big but has lots of tricky angles and areas.

Once that is done I will paint my studio. This gorgeous building is from The Cedar Shed company and it is my favourite space. I have been waiting a year for my dear hubby to get around to plastering the lining (yes I even have insulation behind the lining!) so I can paint it. One of my dearest friends came up with a great idea – paint straight onto the gib board (lining) without plastering and then cover up gaps with scrunched tulle or calico (which I will stamp with my favourite images) etc… I may even spray some of the fabric with metallic paint! I’ll rouche (spelling?) the fabric to go along the apex of the ceiling where the lining meets with a slightly larger gap! I cannot wait to do this and it will be cheaper and less hassle than plastering and then painting. It’s a studio after all, so the walls don’t have to be PERFECT! Smiles..

  13. The ziggy zaggy plates are from a small asian store that went out of business, but the aqua cherry blossom plates are from cost plus or pier one. hugs!

  14. I pretty much love everything about your home. Beautiful! We are in the process of painting our living room (just finished that), dining room and back hallway. My husband just brought home an antique Steinway piano that will be the focal point of the LR. It’s gorgeous! All my life I have wanted a piano… I’m 36 and we finally have one. We are dreaming of singing carols around it at Christmas!

  15. Lisa…I was so excited to see that one print of the girl carrying flowers. I have that same one hanging
in my house. My mother, who is 92, remembers that picture in her grandmother’s home in Philadelphia.
It’s called “The Flower Girl”. My mom found my copy at an antique store in Indiana in 1986. I love it.
Also, your new home looks so very nice. Praying for your David. Blessings.

  16. Love it Lisa. Keep them coming. They give me inspiration for my home. When you come to Nashville next you will have to come over and give me some ideas. I get to see your sis next weekend when I fly into Cali. Wish you could join us. Glad your move went well. I know it can be stressful.

  17. Oh my I’m very jealous of how tranquil and beautiful your decor is. I’m simply blown away. Right now we’re trying to figure out what to do with the nursery in our home. It’s been waiting on a baby for about 9 years now and well I’m just not sure what that outcome is going to be. I just finished my home studio though and it’s a very peaceful and productive retreat for me.

  18. Wow, it looks beautiful. You have a great design style. It looks like such a warm and inviting place.

I love that sideboard you had from your mom, especially the latches on it.

  19. Lisa, You are so talented! Thanks for sharing. I love seeing how others decorate. Your new home is beautiful.

  20. Your decor looks great! My next home interior project will be to replace the carpeting upstairs. I finished painting the exterior of our house a few weeks ago…it was alot of work but turned out great and adds so much life to the house now.
