big deal with linen shorts or how to wear it perfectly

stitch fix, what I'm wearing By July 15, 2015 4 Comments

When my stitch fix box arrived last month, these shorts were inside. And I thought, “No way.” But I decided to try them on anyway and I thought, “Well, maybe.”  And after a week or so they’ve become a summer staple. I haven’t worn shorts in about 10 years–so this is a pretty big deal for me. Sometimes it’s the little things, right?

If you haven’t heard of stitch fix, it’s a monthly box service. You pay a $20 styling fee and they pick out 5 items for you to try on at home. Keep what you want {and apply the $20 styling fee} or send it back. It’s kind of awesome. I’ve included my referral code in the links if you want to give it a try!

It’s Wednesday and I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

cranberry and stripes

stitch fix, what I'm wearing By December 10, 2014 6 Comments

We are in full Christmas CRAZY over here. Which means we’re working hard, having fun and we’re a little bit sleep deprived. I overslept this morning and then tried to put something fun and slightly Christmas-y together to wear. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration.

I’ve been really into cranberry this season. It’s more subtle than red and adds some fun.

A scarf is perfect for chilly mornings {when I say chilly I mean 50*–it really hasn’t been very cold here}.

Hair pulled back because, I overslept. Add some red lipstick and hopefully I look decently pulled together!

These are my favorite earrings and the cuff is thrifted.

Outfit details: Coated jeans, Banana Republic, similar from at Target. Striped top, Stitch Fix. Scarf, Stitch Fix. Cranberry heels {ON SALE}, Target. Black bag, Target. Earrings, My shop. Cuff, Thrifted.

Let’s take a look at what’s come in the my stitch fix box this month!

This black and white striped dress will be perfect for weddings this summer or a date night! The floral blouse in the middle pic is adorable for summer and I’d wear it to the workshop or around town. The maxi skirt in the last pic is easy for a Saturday or a beach day. More pics below!

I tried on the dress with various shoes. I think the blue heels are my favorite. Which do you like best?

And the blue heels work with these boyfriend jeans and the blouse as well! Such a fun pop of color.

The back of the blouse has some fun detail.

And this skirt is like pajamas! Nothing beats an easy maxi skirt for comfort. I wore this on Memorial day.

jewelry, stitch fix By April 30, 2014 1 Comment

My new stitch fix box arrived. There were some GEMS in this box! Including these boyfriend jeans and striped sweater. I love both! If you haven’t heard, stitch fix is a service, where you fill out a style profile and receive a box of 5 items {clothing/accessories} on your doorstep. You can try them on at home, keep what you like and send the rest back. I love being able to try things on with what I already have–to see if the pieces will work or not. This blog post is not sponsored but does contains affiliate links.

How cute are these jeans? I’ve worn them for the last three days! So comfy!

I’m finding myself drawn to coral lately. It’s such a sweet color–not too pink, not too red, just right.

Basic booties, basic bag and I’m ready to go.

A slouchy sweater with a collared shirt seems like a nice in-between for casual and dressy.

You’ve seen the new monogram collection, right? It’s really struck a cord! We’re doing our very best to keep them in stock. Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Today is a good day to shop for mom, and you’ll have it time for Mother’s Day! Awesome!

Outfit details: Jeans, Sweater, both Stitch Fix. Coral collared top, Target. Booties, Target. Bag, Target. Monogram necklace, My shop.

cozy in the cooler weather

stitch fix, what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By February 5, 2014 16 Comments

We are finally getting some colder weather. Which for many of you would be considered warm weather. We’ve had a high of around 60* the last couple days. But in the mornings it’s in the 30’s. Brrr {ok it’s not that cold but for us it is!!}

So since it’s been a little chilly I layered my new stitch fix skirt with tights that are lined with a cozy furry lining.

If you’re not familiar with stitch fix, it’s a monthly subscription where they send you a box of clothes. You keep what you like, send the rest back. It costs $20 for the stylist to put together items she thinks you’ll like. If you keep anything, you can put the $20 towards clothing. So far I’ve loved every box. It’s like Christmas! So fun. I highly recommend stitch fix. Click here to fill out a style profile.

This is not a sponsored post. There are referral links, but all opinions are my own.

One thing I love about stitch fix is that it helps break me out of ruts. I wouldn’t have chosen this skirt because it’s shorter than I usually wear. But paired with thick tights, it’s fun and different.

Did you notice my hair’s a little blonder? I’ve definitely been getting more attention. I got a marriage proposal from some guy at the grocery store yesterday. And another random guy said to call 9-1-1 because I was so hot. It actually makes me super uncomfortable. I try to laugh it off and get away as quickly as I can.

Rings, rings, rings! I am loving our layering rings. They are the best! And they start at $22! I’ve got two stacking rings and the my heart ring on in this picture. The stacking rings say ‘david’ and ‘matthias’ and the my heart ring says ‘i love you’. So sweet!

And this bracelet? Yeah it’s pretty much the sweetest thing ever! It says ‘you+me 07.99’ {the month/year we got married}

Just a little dash of color with the bracelets.

 Outfit details: Skirt, Stitch Fix. Sweater, Banana Republic. Black top, Target. Tights, TJ Maxx. Booties, Dolce Vida. Bag, Target. Bracelet, My shop. Rings, My shop.

What else was in my stitch fix box?
The skirt, denim jacket and scarf on the left are all stitch fix. And the striped sweater on the right is stitch fix. Pretty fun, right? You can see my last post about stitch fix here.

hello everyday jeans, hello monday

hello monday, jewelry, stitch fix, what I'm wearing By February 3, 2014 21 Comments

***Hello Monday is where I greet the new week with an open heart and a fresh perspective. It’s a new beginning–and there’s so much to be thankful for! Join me by leaving your own hellos in the comments section or linking up a hello monday post there!***

I’ve been seeing boyfriend jeans everywhere–but when I’m shopping I can’t find any I like. Last week I came across these boyfriend jeans online and took a risk–figuring I could return them if they didn’t work. And I LOVE them. I’ve worn them at least every other day since I got them. So comfy, and easy and fun!

How about some hellos?

Hello favorite jeans! A good pair of jeans is like a security blanket, don’t you think?

Hello late start. Every Monday the boys’ school starts at 9:25am instead of 8:25am. Late start Mondays are the best invention EVER.

Hello blonder hair. I took some pics to show you later this week. {My hair is still darker in these pics!}

Hello knocking out my to do list. Instead of avoiding certain tasks I’m trying to jump in and get things done. Feels good.

[[Outfit details: Jeans, Big Star. Striped top, Stitch Fix. Chambray top {under} Anthropologie. Leopard print heels Target. Bag, Target. Bracelet, My shop.]]

Hello sweet time with friends over the week. Much needed.
Hello continuing to eat low carb and actually beginning to feel GOOD!
Hello thankful for the bit of rain we’ve had lately and praying for more.
Hello designing and dreaming and stretching my imagination.
Hello cleaning and organizing. Clears my head!
Hello February–what?!
Hello getting things together for David’s hospital stay {he goes in February 11 for tests}
Hello addicted to Downton Abbey. Do you watch it?
Hello YOU. How are you?

Hello brand new, beautiful week! Are you ready?

What are you saying hello to this week? Leave some hellos for us in the comments or link up your own hello monday post there!

Outfits! stitch fix at my doorstep {yay!}

stitch fix, what i wore wednesday, what I'm wearing By December 24, 2013 5 Comments

A couple days ago my stitch fix box arrived on my doorstep and my heart did a little somersault. Yay! Like an early Christmas. If you haven’t heard, stitch fix is a service, where you fill out a style profile and receive a box of 5 items {clothing/accessories} on your doorstep. You can try them on at home, keep what you like and send the rest back. I love being able to try things on with what I already have–to see if the pieces will work or not.

This is not a paid post although it does contain referral links. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I’m linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for some fashion inspiration. Want to see what was in my stitch fix box?

This striped top was one of my favorite things in the box. I love the colors and the fit. And the jewels around the neckline are so sweet.

I layered a chambray top under the striped shirt since it’s been chilly! The navy jacket was in my stitch fix box last month!

Have you got a charm bracelet for 2014? A charm arrives in your mailbox every month. They are available for preorder for only $129! So fun!

Outfit details: Striped top, Stitch fix. Chambray top, Target. {Just a note–I cut the sleeves off this top to make it easier to layer} Blue coat, Stitch fix {last month’s box}. Skinny jeans, Rag & Bone. Booties, Sam Edelman. Leather bag, brought back from Thailand. Charm bracelet, My shop–shop now for 2014’s bracelet!

This sweet dress was in my stitch fix box, too! I thought it would be fun with navy tights and booties, but I didn’t have any navy tights–so I layered skinny jeans under the dress. It’s a tunic style dress, so it worked for a fun, casual look.

I wore this outfit to church Sunday, which was easy and perfect for chasing David.

This bag is such a fun souvenir from Thailand. And it brings back sweet memories, too!

And this necklace is out of stock in the shop, but we’ll be bringing it back as soon as we can!

Outfit details: Dress, Stitch fix. Skinny jeans, Paige. Navy booties, Aerosoles. Leather bag, Thailand. Inspiration necklace, my shop.
