seattle

steve and i headed to seattle for the weekend. i spoke at a bloggy boot camp which was so much fun! but mostly we needed a little time away. and it was so good!

friday we had the whole day to ourselves with no schedule and no where to be. heaven!

we went out for breakfast at bacco and walked all over downtown. the weather was perfect {and the company was too!}

i missed the boys so much! but i’d been feeling the need for a getaway. david has been so active since his surgery. its exciting but also exhausting.

steve and i needed time to focus on each other without distractions. we needed to have fun!

oh, and i found the cutest shop–i can’t wait to tell you about it!

i’m still glowing from our weekend.

and i’m so thankful we had the gift of a weekend away, just the two of us. it’s so important for our marriage and our family.

have you done anything lately to get away and get refreshed?

  1. Yes! Went on a long girlfriend weekend to Portland – my friend from 1971, lizzie, and from 1977, Joanie – we ate and shopped our way through that beautiful town – AND it was 80 degrees there and rained here – go figure! Fabulously fun. I won’t wait so long to do it again (but will fast a few meals in advance, hopefully, next time…)

  2. Our 3 kids are at day camp for 3 weeks. My husband has had the first 3 days off from work, and we have gone out to lunch together each day, trying new restaurants. It’s been a blast! We homeschool our kids so they are usually around all the time. This has been a real treat.

  3. LOVE Seattle … used to live there, before moving to Portland! I loved being surrounded by gorgeous bodies of water … so pretty. Looks like an amazing trip … we need one of those too! πŸ™‚

  4. You came to my city! It’s so fun to see it through the eyes of a tourist. Makes me want to get out & explore more. Please do share the name of that exciting little shop. πŸ˜‰ This weekend we recharged headed north from Seattle with our four girls & went to the San Juan Islands for a long, sunny weekend. It was glorious. Traveling with the girls is stressful but overall I think we recharged with the slower pace for a few days.

  5. Lisa, you are amazingly talented :]

Zack and I had a weekend away, too, but just for 1 night. So refreshing and fun to have that time alone.

    XO

  6. We are recharging as I type—at Lake Tahoe. No work, just he and I, and days of relaxing. I’m glad you got a getaway!

  7. How blessed you are to be able to get away. With 3 kids and a dog and no one up to babysit all of them, it’s impossible but it’s so n ice to hear others can make it happen. It is so important and needed for a strong good marriage. I am so happy for you and all your success!!!
P.S. I love the new pinwheel necklace “play everyday”
    Beautiful (:

  8. Hi Lisa!

Your photos are beautiful. My Husband and I will fly to Rome in September. We have a little cute boy and a dog. And this will be our first weekend alone since our boy was born. I canΒ΄t wait to become “only” a couple for a few days.

  9. It was so pretty here this weekend! You picked an awesome time to visit. Wish I could have met you. But glad you had some time to re-connect with your hubs.

  10. My hubby and I just took our belated honeymoon to Portland, OR and ended our trip in Seattle. It is fun seeing the photos you captured standing in some of the same spots we were standing just a month ago! Great for you & your hubby to get away on a little weekend trip for just the two of you!

  11. *LOVE* the Crab Pot and hope to head there while in Seattle for my sister’s graduation!!

    Gorgeous photos, Lisa!

  12. Hi Lisa, no we haven’t and boy do we need to! This is one of the reasons I didn’t want a puppy this year – we had such a hard year re John’s job last year and now that he is free I was SO looking forward to time with him, jumping in the car and just going somewhere whenever we felt like it (even though I adore being home, I recognise John needs to get away more than I do). We can’t do this with a puppy, it is just too hard re finding a kennels (dog care place) at short notice etc that we haven’t been away all year! Also our neighbours are never home when we need them to look after our cat and our other animals so it really is very tricky. Pookies is all I can say, giggle….

  13. So glad you loved the city. Seattle is my home town and I can’t think of a better place to live. πŸ™‚ AND, you lucked out with the weather….it was gorgeous this weekend!

  14. Nothing since our little guy was born almost 1 year ago but…we are going on a cruise to Alaska in 20 days!!!!!!!

  15. Last weekend we got away overnight in Sausality. I glowed the whole week. Wish we could get the those getaways more often. I agree they are so good for our marriages and families! So glad you had fun in Seattle. I’ve been wanting to take Dave to Pike Place Market!

  16. I love that you posted about getaways today!

That’s exactly what my blog post was about as well, but our getaway was from the city!

  17. I am a native Seattle girl, love seeing it through your eyes/lens. Glad you had fun and that the weather was PNW perfection πŸ˜‰

  18. yes! joel and i got away memorial day weekend to celebrate our 3-yr anniversary. it was SO much fun & so refreshing to have uninterrupted qt together. i agree that it is so vital to a healthy marriage!

  19. One can never tire of fablous Seattle pics! So glad you and your hubby got away.
I think the single worst mistake my husband and I have made so far in parenting is not giving enough time to each other. It’s so easy to put aside the tending required to keep a marraige healthy when you have little ones. This was a great reminder to all of us partners and mamas. Thanks!

  20. I live in Seattle and we went to the Crab Pot for Mother’s Day! It’s our favorite spot on the pier. Glad you made it to the Emerald City. =)

  21. what a nice little getaway for the two of you, love that picture of both of you, big smiles…you can tell how happy and glowing you are!

as for me and the hubs getting away, we haven’t in FOREVER, but we are headed to jamaica tomorrow of a 6 day, 5 night stay and i couldn’t be more excited! the kids are going to be so well taken care of by grandpa and grandma (and even get to take a trip on there own with them to nebraska – we live in arizona – to make it that much more special)! they will probably not be ready to come home when i go to pick them up next week!

cheers to getaways with our hubbies!

  22. I went on a weekend getaway to Bend, OR with the girls recently. Talk about some R&R. Lots of laughs, lots of food, and tons of fun.

Seattle is only a 3 hour drive from where I’m living, and I love it. A visit is long overdue!

  23. The hubs and I have been pondering a MAJOR move to Seattle. Haven’t been yet, so it was SO SO fun for me to see these pics!
